THURSDAY, APRIL 26

YELLOWSTONE---trailer released for the Paramount Network tv series starring Kevin Costner.

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3j2R4fNxTdY&t=8s

OVERLORD---JJ Abrams said this World War II D-Day movie about US paratroopers encountering supernatural forces in a French village is Bad Robot's first R-rated movie. Abrams said the movie is not part of the Cloverfield series.
Movie writers who saw a film clip said it has graphic scenes including "a grenade exploding in someone's mouth" and "Set against the backdrop of D-Day, a squad of soldiers stumble upon a Nazi bunker with some real sh*t, including a French woman's decapitated head asking for help."

A QUIET PLACE---Paramount Pictures CEO Jim Gianopulos confirmed the sequel is underway, We’re already working with these guys on a sequel. If you told me five years ago that an almost silent film starring the very funny guy Jim from THE OFFICE would have been a hit at Paramount, I would have said, ‘Well, I should go work at Paramount.'”
He also said Paramount is developing two more STAR TREK movies, but he gave no additional details.

THE PREDATOR---synopsis released for the Shane Black movie.

“From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.”

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 3---synopsis released for the sequel.

'"John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the run for two reasons… he’s being hunted for a global $14 million dollar open contract on his life, and for breaking a central rule: taking a life on Continental Hotel grounds. The victim was a member of the High Table who ordered the open contract. John should have already been executed, except the Continental’s manager, Winston, has given him a one-hour grace period before he’s “Excommunicado” – membership revoked, banned from all services and cut off from other members. John uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City."'

HALLOWEEN---Jamie Lee Curtis introduced a trailer from the sequel. It showed someone visiting Michael Myers in an institution to make a documentary and shows him his mask. Also, Laurie Strode's granddaughter said Laurie is still traumatized by her encounter with Myers and has her house full of guns, booby traps and passage ways if Michael returns. She says Michael is not Laurie's brother.
Another scene shows a girl in a bathroom stall trying to keep Michael out as he showers her with teeth from the man he killed in the next stall.

RUN THIS TOWN---photo released of Damian Lewis starring in this biomovie about former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford who was involved in a scandal involving drug and alcohol abuse.

NXIVM---two tv projects are underway based on the sex slavery cult in which its leader, Keith Raniere, and Allison Mack (SMALLVILLE) have been arrested. Annapurna Television is developing a scripted series based on the NEW YORK TIMES expose of the cult. Also, a docuseries is underway focusing on actress Sarah Edmondson and her husband, who were recruiters for NXIVM, but left and tried to help others escape.

HARVEY WEINSTEIN---movie underway on the two NEW YORK TIMES reporters, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey, who broke the story on the Harvey Weinstein sex scandal.

IRON-MAN---Tom Cruise commented on the rumor that he almost got the role instead of Robert Downey, Jr., “Not close. Not close and I love Robert Downey, Jr. I can’t imagine anyone else in that role and I think it’s perfect for him.”

THE LONG WALK---movie underway based on the Stephen King novel. James Vanderbilt (THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN) is the writer.

MOONBASE 8---Fred Armisen, John C. Reilly and Tim Heidecker star in this sci fi comedy series about three astronauts in a NASA Moon Base Simulator in the desert who hope they will be the next astronauts to land on the Moon.

GODFATHER OF HARLEM---Forest Whitaker stars in this tv series about a Harlem crime boss who teams up with Malcolm X to battle the Genovese crime family in the 1960s.

GAME OF THRONES---George RR Martin posted, “No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least. You’re going to have to keep waiting for ‘THE WINDS OF WINTER'".
Martin added that FIRE & BLOOD is due out on November 20, “It’s a hefty book, almost a thousand manuscript pages (okay, 989, if you want to be precise). That’s not quite as long as ‘A GAME OF THRONES’ or any of the later volumes in ‘A SONG FOR ICE AND FIRE,’ but there’s a lot of reading there, and I hope you’ll enjoy it. This first volume covers all the Targaryen kings from Aegon I (the Conquerer) to the regency of Aegon III (the Dragonbane), along with their wives, wars, siblings, children, friends, rivals, laws, travels, and sundry other matters. For those not up on your Westerosi history, that’s Aegon I, Aenys, Maegor the Cruel, Jaehaerys I (the Conciliator), Viserys I, Aegon II (and Rhaenyra), and Aegon III (the regency). Oh, and there are dragons too.”
He continued, “as most of you know, HBO is presently developing a number of different prequels to ‘GAME OF THRONES.’ I know I am going to be asked whether those shows are going to be based on material from ‘FIRE & BLOOD.’ It’s a logical question. The only answer I can give is… ah, well, no one is sure yet, and anyway, I am not allowed to say. So let’s move that to the side.”

TRIVIA---ICE STATION ZEBRA was based on the Alistair McLean novel and starred Rock Hudson, Patrick McGoohan, Ernest Borgnine and Jim Brown.
ICE STATION ZEBRA was Hudson's favorite movie, perhaps because it helped resurrect his career. It was also the favorite movie of reclusive billionaire Howard Hughes. When Hughes was dissatisfied with the programming on Las Vegas tv station KLAS-TV, he bought the station and demanded that it play ICE STATION ZEBRA whenever he wanted to watch it. Paul Anka wrote in his autobiography MY WAY, "We knew when Hughes was in town. You'd get back to your room, turn on the TV at 2 A.M., and the movie Ice Station Zebra would be playing. At 5am, it would start all over again. It was on almost every night. Hughes loved that movie."
Hughes aids said he had a projector system installed in his room and watched ICE STATION ZEBRA over 150 times in an endless loop.
ICE STATION ZEBRA was originally supposed to reunite Gregory Peck and David Niven, who had starred in another Alistair McLean-inspired hit movie, THE GUNS OF NAVARONE. However, due to rewrites for the original Paddy Chayefsky script, Peck and Niven were unavailable when the movie was ready to film and they were replaced by Hudson and McGoohan.
A long-gestating remake is underway.

That Rob Ford film better be a comedy.

Does every moderately successful film have to have a sequel.
I enjoyed QUIET PLACE for its simplicity and lack of clutter. It was a fine engine of constant tension and suspense.
But it was enough.
Just like BABY DRIVER. Another film I really enjoyed recently that appears to be getting an unnecessary follow-up.
Sometimes, once is perfect.

Sounds cool! There are many (bleh'ish) attempts at various WWII supernatural escapades in film. This sounds like a top-notch effort. Bring on the inordinate horror and carnage.

Blood for the blood god!

3/4 if the last third of The Predator was redone in reshoots according to one actor, Peele, I think it was.

I'm interested to see it but I'm wondering what was wrong with the original idea that got the go ahead. I heard previews were pretty bad, some saying it was too much a comedy. Maybe Dragon even posted that info, not sure.

ICE STATION ZEBRA was originally a roadshow picture in Cinerama. I saw it as such, and still have the souvenir program. At the time, it seemed padded and overlong, especially in the first part, which was about getting to the destination. Intermission was a relief. The second part was much better, more of an adventure thriller.

I doubt Hughes showed the roadshow version...

I'll wait for the "How it should have ended" video. I'm sure it will explain away all the nonsense they're about to unload in this film.

Damn you're on a role the last two days. And consider that a compliment.

Hughes must have been subliminally swayed by the ISZ Legrand score. Now hear this, now hear this . . . is there any sign he cycled the music 24/7?

Agreed. The more despondent LeHah becomes over the tragic state of pop culture, the more hilarious he becomes. This means LeHah will bury us all because he can cope when The Man's got him--and us--down.

With cliche-filled poorly written rehashing teasers like this, the human race deserves to end. But I'm sure at the last minute, humanity will be saved by super soldier androids from the future.
