All this talk about George Duning and nobody mentions Big Valley? That show had one of the great western scores in tv history. The whole album is available on you tube. It's only 26+ minutes but a real nice listen. That's a show that needs the full treatment from somebody. Duning! Bernstein! Schifrin!Plus other music from the four-star library. While I'm at it,how about The Outcasts(Hugo Montenegro), High Chaparral(Harry Sukman),The Quest(Richard Shores) and Cimarron Strip(Jarre,Geller,Shores,Stevens,Duning,Herrmann)?Lot's of great western scores waiting! As you can tell I love tv westerns.PS- don't get me started on GUNSMOKE! Too many great scores and composers to mention! Everything you said, with knobs on. It dates from back when Levy-Gardner-Laven Productions was as big a name as A Quinn Martin Production. A small hint there to La-La-Land.
