DUNE---Denis Villeneuve (ARRIVAL, BLADE RUNNER 2049) said his remake of the movie will rely on the novel and won't be connected to David Lynch's 1984 movie, “David Lynch did an adaptation in the ’80s that has some very strong qualities, I mean David Lynch is one of the best filmmakers alive, I have massive respect for him. But when I saw his adaptation I was impressed, but it was not what I had dreamed of, so I’m trying to make the adaptation of my dreams."
He added, “It will not have any link with the David Lynch movie. I’m going back to the book, and going to the images that came out when I read it.”

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR---the Russo brothers posted a teaser photo about the sequel.

GALAXY QUEST---writer Paul Scheer said the Amazon tv series reboot of the 1999 STAR TREK parody movie will have old and new characters which will, "...continue the story of our original characters and have consequences from the first film. So it is mixing two casts. It’s separate kind of adventures that kind of merge, and I’m looking at this first season not as episodic, but as a serialized story." It's not known if the surviving members of the original cast will return for the tv series.

QUENTIN TARANTINO---Tarantino clarified reports his next movie will be about Charles Manson, “It’s not Charles Manson, it’s 1969.” Tarantino reportedly has talked to Tom Cruise, Margot Robbie and Leonardo DiCaprio about starring in the movie.

FEAR THE WALKING DEAD---Garret Dillahunt (DEADWOOD) has joined the cat in an undisclosed role for Season 4.

LANDSCAPE WITH INVISIBLE HAND---movie underway based on the sci fi novel about aliens called the Vuvv who conquer Earth.

PSYCHOKINESIS---Netflix will air the South Korean movie by Yeon Sang-ho (TRAIN TO BUSAN) about a man who seeks to save his daughter who has super powers.

THE FRENCH DETECTIVE---ABC tv pilot underway based on James Patterson's Luc Moncrief novels in which a Paris police detective joins the New York Police Department. Luc Besson will direct the pilot.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3---F. Murray Abraham will be the voice of villain Grimmel in the sequel.

WHAT MEN WANT---Taraji P. Henson stars in the female remake of the 2000 Mel Gibson movie WHAT WOMEN WANT. Henson plays a female sports agent who acquires the ability to read men's minds and uses the information to beat her male rivals to sign the NBA's number one draft pick.

Dune rebooted is one of the worst ideas ever. Villeneuves taste in projects is pretty bad

Villeneuve has great taste in projects, and I couldn't possibly be more excited for his adaptation of DUNE. None have succeeded in adapting it properly thus far. Villeneuve might just be the man to do it!

I haven't read the book but is it something that could be successfully done as a two or two hour thirty minute film? It seems massive.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 3---F. Murray Abraham will be the voice of villain Grimmel in the sequel.

Jezz how long ago was 2? This was supposed to be a "trilogy", I would've though this was about done by now. It's long over due.

Has Star Wars turned into a reality show or something? Or a parody of itself? Something...

Good-quality animation can't exactly be rushed. I'd rather wait four years between Dragon sequels than have them rush the process and turn out something half-assed. Same thing with the Kung Fu Panda movies. It took Pixar eleven years to make Toy Story 3, and that might well have been the best of the bunch.

I agree, they made some pretty big leaps in animation software and hand drawn overlays on the last picture. And Deblois really does care about the story arc being well though out. I thought that the last picture carried surprising dramatic heft and action picture level experiences, remarkable for animation, especially for Dreamworks. This is the top tier product out of Dreamworks, and it looks quite different than Disney or Pixar products. Whatever time they need, it will pay off.

Will the audience care? HTTYD2 under-performed. Film goers move quickly onto the next in vogue thing. I just don't think the length of time between releases bodes well for 3's box office returns.

Regarding the animation, I have no idea how long it takes to produce a 3D animated film. I'm sure it could've been made and released by now. Most likely they wanted to get other projects made first. I just don't see it as a smart marketing move for the franchise.

I do agree the character animation in HTTYD2 was jaw dropping. It's the first time I though the characters breathed life and could compare a 3D film favorably with a traditionally drawn 2D film.

I'm starting to get excited for "Galaxy Quest", since it's not re-visioning everything and it's based on the film and will have film characters (whether original actors or not).

Depending on how they play their cards, it could be much better than "The Orville".

brother Solium, you are probably right that How To Train Your Dragon 3 will commercially under-perform, but I am looking forward to it anyway.

I'm looking forward to seeing it as well. It's one of the very few character driven animated films which focuses on drama over laughs.
