I hope this is just a strange kind of nostalgic retro marketing appetizer for a full release which will include digital media for consumers not completely living in the past.

Nope - let's wait until Roger or Doug or anyone else (whom we trust) will confirm that this one is completely LEGAL release (we all know that sometime even our beloved labels did mistakes with licences etc.).
Only after that I'll agree that this is historic smile

What makes you think that "Roger or Doug or anyone else" have any insight into the legality of this release? Why the apparent lack of trust for Stylotone?

For that matter, what makes someone think that any release discussed here is legal? Are the contracts ever scanned and posted?

Well, Stylotone is not "new label" now (it's 1 year-old! big grin ), but it always bit strange when newcomer can get licence for something like this, while monsters like Intrada or Varese failed (or you think that they didn't try to release Twisted Nerve/Marnie/Psycho?!).

Since the source material for Stylotone's Psycho 7" appears to have been recently discovered, perhaps the "monster" labels were unaware of them and would therefore have never attempted to obtain a license. At best, the other labels would only be able to comment on their attempts to release the titles you mentioned. They wouldn't be able to comment on the inner workings of the Stylotone releases of those same titles.

Are we really back to asking if Stylotone is legit again?

Nope - now it's just interesting (at least for me), how they could (probably in 1 year!) solve things, that others couldn't solve for years! smile
upd And I'd like to know this ONLY 'cause I like such background stories - how labels tried and tried to do something and than suddenly they found the best solution.

An exciting prelude to an exciting lp package release in the style of TWISTED NERVE and KHARTOUM. Will be interesting to see if the MARNIE lp gets released before PSYCHO, as the 45 has been available for a while.

Pass.

A full original score release with just a CD and no un-needed bonuses for me, thanks.

I hardly think the millions of young people who are collecting only vinyl are living completely in the past.

Hold that thought while I crank up the jalopy. I was qualifying fans who want CDs, since most soundtrack fans are living in the past to some degree.

The commentary for this release should produce days, if not weeks, of entertainment. First Twisted Nerve, now this. Once the furor dies down concerning the lack of a complete release, the unknown source elements, and the fact that it is vinyl only, Stylotone will then release Marnie to stir up the hornet's nest once again.

"... in association with The Bernard Herrmann Estate, The Hitchcock Trust and Universal Pictures"

Not sufficient?

And Stylotone will refuse to release a CD-only version! wink

I'm waiting for Twisted Nerve to appear as a regular CD release. It is inevitable and I will buy it...if the price is not hiked (and hyped) up!
