I received a letter today from the sister of FSM poster RM Eastman - Robert Eastman - who passed away about a month ago. Apologies if this was posted earlier - I searched and didn't see it.

That is very sad. I know we had our share of disagreements on this board, but I admired his passion. So interesting how this board is full of people I have never met and most likely never will (and whom I tend to picture as if they look like whatever random avatar they've chosen), and yet I feel their absence when they are gone. Thanks for alerting us, Bruce.

Very sorry to hear this, but thank you for letting us know. He was a loyal supporter and passionate fan for many years—decades, I would imagine!

So sorry to hear of his passing. I did enjoy reading his posts. I'll miss them.

It seemed to me that very often when there was a "prevailing opinion" about a score, or a composer, or whatever - the honorable RM Eastman would counter with an alternative point of view that made me scratch my head and think a bit about my own opinion on the topic.

Wait a minute! If RM Eastman passed away one or two months ago, just WHO is posting in his name at the
drivingmissdaisy Mystery Cue posting one week ago? His sister? Is this board haunted?

I disagreed with the extreme negativity he sometimes expressed towards other composers like Horner, but I shared his passionate love for Goldsmith and it was nice to see my excitement and enthusiasm mirrored by him for every new Goldsmith announcement.

Look at the year, Ron. 2016, not 2017.

Of the many insults hurled at me around these parts, RM Eastman's were among those that I most enjoyed.

This was a favorite:

OnyaBirri :

You appear to have little interest in film music, your distain [sic] of scores from the 1980's and in general is beyond explanation?? Why are you even in this forum??

I will miss him. RIP.

He had excellent taste.

It also points up the cold fact that this is an artificial environment here, and we truly know nothing of one another except for what personae we project.

R.I.P.

Like many here, I always appreciated his passion.

I remember a few years ago he posted that Jerry Goldsmith's theme from "Love Field" was his all-time favorite movie theme, specifically citing track nine, "Together Again."

Original thread where he wrote about this: http://filmscoremonthly.com/board/posts.cfm?threadID=53394&forumID=1&archive=0

He will be missed.

Sorry to hear that Robert has died, Robert was a nice guy, I traded scores a couple of times, a very generous individual, kind, & informative, will be missed on this board.

My condolences to family & friends, R.I.P. Robert.
