Anybody know anything about this release, who released it, is it really an improvement over the Silva release? I must admit, though, I really do like the new cover art.

Haven't purchased the new one. There was also a vinyl release I might pick up. I think I'll be sticking with the Silva CD until we get an expanded score.

It was difficult to find a high res image of Varese's version of the cover. Here is an alternate version I put together.

I have this new release on order from Amazon right now. Expecting it any time.

I've never owned any previous release of T2 so I'll have nothing to compare it to, but I'm excited to hear the album for the first time.

Any chance you could post some pictures of the CD and case when you get it, along with your impressions of the sound quality (I realize you won't have a basis for comparison)?

That 2017 reissue cover is based on the upcoming 3D conversion release in August.

If I recall arightly, when the prospect of a complete T2 has been previously floated on these boards, others have noted that composer Brad Fiedel has stated that he doesn't have the masters, and that he doesn't know who does.

As a result, a complete T2 is currently a VERY remote possibility.

Hope so otherwise this rererelease is a big tease.

This franchise has changed hands so many times, it's not surprising that something like this would happen. However I remember reading simply that the masters are lost. If this came from Fiedel, are their whereabouts simply unknown to him, or are they truly lost?

The masters for The Terminator are lost and we still got that great re-release last year. Hopefully that same thing can happen for T2.

T2 arrived! The packaging is supremely minimal. They sure didn't drop a penny more than they had to. Ultra-thin cardboard. No information apart from the track titles and times inside. The CD is wedged into the fold pretty good, but I just need it to rip the music onto iTunes so no real skin off my back. The cover design is cool, although as you can see there are dual designs on the front and back and I had a minor heart attack when I opened my package and saw the old design facing me and thought I'd been sent the wrong CD. All in all, the packaging is pretty much original The Lost World: JP packaging quality, minus the dino-rama (which could be a plus or a minus depending on your taste or lack thereof). I'll update again with feedback on the music itself once I've spun it.

That Silva Screen reissue was absolutely brickwalled, so at this point anything is an improvement, but I hope that this edition sonically delivers the goods.

Someone should hit up DVD/BD producer Van Ling and see if he has any safety copies of the complete score

I wish they would. If anybody has access, it's him!

Thanks for the pictures and the info. Looking forward to your thoughts on the sound quality.
