Well shoot, I personally haven't heard of any of these scores or films. Is anybody here able to give a strong recommendation on some of these titles?

Just placed an order for three titles thru PayPal.

Really great titles here.... some I already own.

SoapDish Alan Silvestri really fun score the CD sis great I own it, if you like Silversti's work it's a no brainer.

Terms of Endearment 2 CD set for 7.99! Crazy

Partners Delerue score most of it unused in the film.

and I also grabbed Pino's score for Passions since I like his work with De Palma.

Lots of great titles in the sale.

If it helps use this link and search Quartet for listings form price LOW to High and you will get the sale titles listed first.

Well shoot, I personally haven't heard of any of these scores or films. Is anybody here able to give a strong recommendation on some of these titles?

From the titles offered within this listing, I vouch for these 5:

THE LEGEND OF THE WOLF WOMAN (LA LUPA MANNARA)
LA LUNGA NOTTE DEL '43
THE COMFORT OF STRANGERS
LE MOINE (THE MONK)
JULES VERNE'S THE LIGHT AT THE EDGE OF THE WORLD FEWER THAN 20 COPIES

One's reception towards these, though, rather depends on how wide one's tastes are in music.
If your favorite soundtracks are from English-language/Hollywood movies during the past 35 years, then the items offered within this sale on Quartet titles are aural territories quite far apart/removed from your faves.

  • Le Moine by Alberto Iglesias is my favorite score from 2011.
  • If one likes music by Angelo Badalamenti, then there shouldn't be any obstacle to getting a copy of The Comfort of Strangers (1990).
  • Lallo Gori's 1976 The Legend of the Wolf Woman is essentially an early synthesizer effort with a few acoustic instruments (plus it is written for an Italian genre flick) - so investigate this item according to your own comfort levels.
  • My 2nd favorite film score by Piero Piccioni is the 1971 The Light at the Edge of the World.
I recommend this strongly because it's within my Top 50 discs and I hope the '71 vintage is not a deterrent.
  • Quartet issued Carlo Rustichelli's 1960 La Lunga Notte del '43 & limited it to only 350 pressings. This is a 'Golden Age' score for a WWII film that shouldn't be overlooked because it's over 55 years old and from Italy.

Two titles I can't speak highly of enough:

CRAZY PEOPLE - Utterly delightful (and thematically rich) comedy score from Cliff Eidelman (another fine composer who's gone MIA).

OCHO APELLIDOS VASCOS - Marvelously bubbly effort from Fernando Velazquez (fun fact: I took a chance on this because of a previous sale).

The expanded Thomas Crown for $7.95 is a deal.

    @ZardozSpeaks

you sold me on "The Light at the Edge of the World"

may I ask what other scores make up your top 50 list?

    thanks

If you haven't grabbed Cézanne et moi, don't miss it this time! One of the best scores from 2016, a touching, highly melodic album.

And, of course, don't miss Morricone's En mai fais ce qu' il te plait. Another great score from the Maestro.

Sure, I could list my Top 50 if you wish - but perhaps not in this thread (my faves are not going to be only Quartet discs for $7.95 smile )

If you don't mind reading through many pages of this thread, I posted my faves (as username "Cobweb") inside this MainTitles discussion (started by Timmer):
