It contains (a new stereo master made from) Michael McDonald's 3-track stereo mixes from 1993 instead of the all new remix Intrada created for their 2011 release (which sold out in 72 hours, hence the reissue). Also, it contains the original OST, which was a different stereo mix also created in 1993, plus one additional track that had a stereo album mix made, but then wasn't included on the OST.

Another thing worth pointing out is that on the 1993 OST, they actually made a mistake when putting the track titles on the back of the CD! The first 4 tracks are named fine, but then track 5 is actually a continuation of Gabe Returns, meaning track 6 is actually I Understand... so every name is off by one slot all the way down until track 17, which contains BOTH Jessie's Release AND Helicopter Fighter, and then track 18 is named OK. If you compare the track list of the old CD to the LLL one on disc 2 here, you can see they fixed that up by combining the two parts of Gabe Returns together, and properly naming the rest of the tracks. This should help if that explanation didn't: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1-x0PiiGl51RrtrrD0bgACtZscNdAsAuotyhnQTXxaMs/pubhtml

I like this score, but I did have some issues with the sound on the Intrada edition; I would have preferred a wider stereo image. I will check the samples to hear if the '93 mix is a bit better in that regard.

A Great score to experience Jones' maturation. For some strange reason, the orchestra still sounds small on all releases of this score, as it does on the blu-ray. Must have been a small band as he used in those days. Last of The Mohicans, Freejack etc. Then he went full gonzo with Dark City and thr London Symphony. Jones used the London Philharmonic Orchestra for Cliffhanger, which isn't a small orchestra. I think it sounds small because of the way the music was mixed on both the original album and the Intrada album. I think the music has a fuller sound in the film.

So what's the opinion on the LLL version of this one ? I have the Intrada so would like to know if there is a noticeable sound upgrade or is it just a different mix ? Also, is there any differences in OST tracks to the film score tracks ? Really like this score and so debating whether I need this version or if the Intrada is worth keeping. It sounds pretty much the same to me from the samples. Not likely to double dip myself. Many of the samples were specifically chosen to highlight differences between our new release and earlier editions. There is a snare drum playing in the film mix of track 1 which you can hear in the sample around 45 seconds in. "Fetch/Expensive Funeral" is a different mix than earlier editions, featuring more synth elements, more reverberation and a wider soundstage. "Brett's Death/Evan Dives" is not the album edit and has music never before released. Going beyond the samples, all of the album mixes are different, some more obvious than others. "Sarah Falls", for instance, has fewer synth parts in the film mix and that debuts here. A lot of time and research went into this release to make it stand out from earlier editions. By presenting both the film mixes and album mixes, also while correcting a mastering error on the original album, we feel this is the final, definitive release of this wonderful score. MV
