I'm taking this thread to mean, "You shouldn't like because you yourself generally don't like that style" not, "You shouldn't like because everyone else says so..."

Anyway, I don't usually like RC scores, but, boy, do I enjoy Lorne Balfe's music. Guy can write a theme!

I actually think there "should" be no "shoulds" either way in what you like. but I like how you took it, AidaB. You might just make this thread more than a one-note joke, as it were.

We'll see!

Hmm. I don't know of any composers in general.

Yeah, Zimmer is "off limits" for decent folk. In my case I don't automatically love his scores (although I do love many) or hate them. (The most I've ever been is indifferent.)

Individual scores, on the other hand... Much blood has been spilled over those of us who love Ladyhawke.

I adore most of David Arnold's Bond. Especially Quantum of Solace. (I hate that film.)

I've been told I shouldn't like Skyfall. But I do.

What / who else shouldn't be mentioned in polite company? Toto's Dune?

I'm always surprised how much I enjoy Randy Edelman.

I was surprised to see someone else say this. I grew up on The Indian In The Cupboard, Angels In The Outfield and The Big Green, which are movies my father played to introduce me to more film scores. It was not until later, I discovered Gettysburg and The Last Of The Mohicans.

Definitely. I'm one of them.

Me too... though I consider him among those who should be liked more others.

I'm shocked this thread got resurrected. It was originally me just being snarky about the other thread about composers you "should" like but don't. Because that's poppycock. No one "should" like a composer they don't, and no one should feel they "should not" like any composer they do.

I enjoy at least some scores by just about every composer talked about on this board, and am proud to enjoy the music I do. As should we all. wink
