THE MUMMY---Universal Pictures released the official trailer and an inside look from the remake movie starring Tom Cruise

Also, director Alex Kurtzman commented on the role Dr. Jekyll (Rusell Crowe) and his organization, Prodigium, will play in THE MUMMY and the other Universal Pictures monster movie remakes, “We wanted to understand the context of the Mummy in the larger world and we wanted to know that monsters had existed for millennium, and we knew as the story evolved, we wanted there to be an organization who had been cataloging them and been following them. We said, ‘Well, we could make up a character who is going to be the voice or we could look to monster mythology and say, ‘Is there a character who could organically fit into the story, that wouldn’t detract from the Mummy story, but would in fact enhance it?'”
Kurtzman also said the remake monsters will be relatively faithful to the originals, “Creature from the Black Lagoon, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Hunchback, Phantom of the Opera, Dr. Jekyll, The Mummy. I can go on and on. Wolfman. Universal owns the rights to [Frankenstein]’s bolts-in-the-neck, flat-top head, green face. So now you take all that away, and I’d say, “But it’s still Frankenstein”, you’re going to go, “No, it’s not.” And if you ask a four-year old child to draw Frankenstein for you, they’re going to draw bolts in the neck, flat-top head and green face. It is culturally embedded. That is the world we live in, it’s not going away.”
Kurtzman added that DRACULA UNTOLD is not part of Universal's remake monster universe.

Also, director Gareth Edwards said George Lucas liked the new movie, “Two days ago we got to show George the movie, and we all had a phone call and I got to speak with him yesterday, and I don’t want to put words into his mouth, but I can honestly say that I can die happy now. He really liked the movie. It meant a lot. To be honest, and no offense to anyone here, it was the most important review to me. You know, you guys are important too, but he’s kind of god… I will take that conversation to my grave. His opinion means the world to me.”

STAR TREK: DISCOVERY---Bryan Fuller commented on leaving the new CBS series and said his title of executive producer is only ceremonial, “Ultimately, with my responsibilities [elsewhere], I could not do what CBS needed to have done in the time they needed it done for Star Trek. It felt like it was best for me to focus on landing the plane with American Gods and making sure that was delivered in as elegant and sophisticated a fashion as I could possibly do.”
Fuller added, I’m not involved in production, or postproduction, so I can only give them the material I’ve given them and hope that it is helpful for them. I’m curious to see what they do with it.”

JUMANJI---photo released of Dwayne Johnson in a fight scene from the sequel to the 1995 movie.

THE WOODS---Syfy series is underway based on the graphic novels about a Wisconsin high school that is mysteriously transported to the dark forest of a distant planet's moon. Brad Peyton (SAN ANDREAS) is the director/producer.

SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING---Sony Pictures ran footage of the reboot movie at Comic Con Experience in Brazil which led to one fan posting about the footage, "My God, they showed the new Spider-costume! He has his wings under his arm!" A second fan added, "Totally makes sense for Spiderman to have web wings since Vulture [Michael Keaton] will be the main villain."

MARVEL'S LUKE CAGE---Netflix renewed the series for Season 2.

JUSTICE LEAGUE---after DC entertainment head Geoff Johns followed Armie Hammer on Twitter, fans speculated that Hammer will play Green Lantern in JUSTICE LEAGUE.

BARBIE---Amy Schumer stars in this Sony Pictures movie based on the Mattel doll. Schumer will play a misfit in a world of perfect Barbies.

GOOD GIRLS REVOLT---Amazon cancelled the series.

I wonder who the modern equivalents are for Abbott and Costello - Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly?

I just watched the trailer on Youtube, as I forgot to watch TWD last night, instead watching the final of Westworld (which was literally ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, as I actually had to fight falling asleep during it) and I think it's depressing that this Mummy reboot looks an awful lot like the previous incarnation, an action/adventure movie instead of the horror film it's supposed to be, and Tom Cruise looks silly in it. He's too old for this stuff. Forget the mummy, Tom needs to worry about the botox monster.

Regarding The Mummy trailer, WTF was that? I made the joke, last weeks teaser looked like Species. I don't think I'm far off. Even the Egyptian stuff looks Alien. I saw the Guardians teaser in the theater, couldn't be less interested.

Rory has revealed the little known fact that the hyroglyphics on the tombs of Ramesses II and Tutankhamen both roughly translate into a curse upon any film maker who does an action mummy movie rather than a horror film as those Egyptian kings clearly wanted.

Am I the only person so far that thinks that it would be really nice if someone would cut the crap now and do a really good STALKING MUMMY film? I know the original with dear old Boris is also not exactly that, but let's face it. We all know EXACTLY what I mean.

YES! Look at a villain like Darth Vader- He hardly moves yet he's menacing as all hell. You don't need agile quick moving mummies in order for them to be threatening.

Mummy Impossible - that poor, poor, poor Hercules transport. Shocking waste of a multi-engined turbo prop!

"The Navy versus the Universal Monsters." They could do a crossover with the new Kong & Godzilla flicks since the Military seems to be the "hero" in all this.

Hollywood gets a lot of it's funding from the military.
