I'm still not sold on The Red Balloon but I'm loving Le Voyage en Ballon which is more than worth the cost of the album.

You might want to watch the film THE RED BALLOON on YouTube for free. The 34 minute film is charming and so is the fine score.

I picked this up at Creature Features over the weekend and just love it! Bruce great job again. Others should pick this up and also check out the film The Red Balloon. It's a delightful film.

Congrats to Bruce!!

This disc is such a delight, both scores, and I especially love the delirious waltzes for Le Voyage en Ballon. And though I saw Red Balloon many times in grade school, this disc inspires me to rent the Criterion DVD to check out the music with the film.

A real keeper!

I add my own happiness to that of others, for this nostalgic release. Both the scores can be repeatedly listened with a never ending pleasure. Thank to “Red Balloon” music, I had the opportunity to see and learn about this short but intense movie that was unknown to me.

Nice to read such lovely comments. What is the expression - you can lead a horse to water... smile

If you have a "thirst" for beautiful music, this is the one to buy.

... mais on ne peux le forcer à boire. Still, sooner or later, the horsey will want to whet his whistle. wink

I just played the whole CD again. It's a delight, full of melodies and uplifting music. No drones and noise. Real music! Thanks Bruce for a cheerful CD! smile

Indeed. The track "Poursuite en Bretagne" from LE VOYAGE is an absolute delight with an instantly catchy melody that reminds why today's "modern sound" scoring should go right in the dumpster where it belongs. I remember that track as a kid in the 60s, as it was frequently used on a local kid's TV show.

I'm really looking forward to getting this. The samples and the various statements from fellow board members are compelling. Thanks for that - and especially Kritzerland for releasing this one!

I just picked up "Voyage en Ballon" for five bucks. Looking forward to spinning!

Now spinning this CD for the umpteenth time and reading some of the comments here I assume it's no blasphemy to say the real winner on this CD is the Prodromidès (gotta love that name...) score for LE VOYAGE EN BALLON? razz

And THE RED BALLOON score is a treat mind you...

Must-have release in my book. THANKS A LOT, Bruce!

RED BALLOON is very nice; I love LE VOYAGE, almost indescribably so. Magic stuff that is...

RED BALLOON is fantastic, and the sound quality of the playful and exuberant VOYAGE is much improved over the other label's prior effort. This is a wonderful release.

Thanks! I wish more people had open minds about film music, but alas, these days, they opt out or don't buy anything that's out of their wheelhouse. It's a pity, but I'm glad we did it anyway.

Bruce, we recently introduced our 10-year-old daughter to RED BALLOON, both with the DVD at Christmas and the CD in the car. In my opinion, the importance of this release need only be gauged by the reactions of another generation that is exposed to it. When she hears the music, she plays the movie in her head. That's the same connection we had as kids.

Thanks again for this release.

That's so nice to hear. For our Indiegogo campaign, where people were basically getting this CD for about twelve bucks we had more opt-outs than any of the other fifteen or twenty titles we've done. I didn't understand it then and I don't now, but that's the way it is. The film itself is one for the ages and has been since the day it came out - every generation has discovered its pleasures, it never dates, and it's a beautiful story told beautifully. And the music is a major part of its success. And then to add the best-sounding version of Le Voyage en Balloon - kind of a no-brainer - and yet...

It's sold about six hundred so we broke even and are fine and I'm glad it will be around for a while.

That is absolutely bizarre to hear, Bruce. I would have expected it to be one of your better sellers out of the bunch, since the film is beloved to almost legendary status. I confess I still need to pick up my copy but as it's one of my (and my wife's) favorite films, rest assured that I will be doing so!
