Janet Waldo, the veteran voiceover artist best known for her work for Hanna-Barbera Productions, has died. Any condolences or rememberances of this fine voiceover artist?

I grew up hearing her "voice". One of my favorites. I was totally in love with her performance as "Princess" on "Battle of the Planets". Sad to hear. RIP.

Edit: Looking on IMDB I see she also did Judy Jetson and Penelope Pitstop. Wow she had such a dynamic acting voice.

Amusing tidbit about Miss Waldo I heard once: she redubbed Aretha Franklin for the airline showings of THE BLUES BROTHERS.

There goes the last link to the original Hanna-Barbera voice artists. May she rest in peace.

A great voice in classic radio: the dreamy teen girl. She'll be that to me, forever!

Not Princess, too...

Ronnie Schell is the only remaining surviving regular from Battle of the Planets.

I didn't know that. BOTP was an enigma. The US producers cut out a lot of the violence and replaced it will cruddy new animation of a R2-D2 like robot host. Yet the voice acting was top notch. One of the best anime dubs I've ever watched. The voice actors were very natural sounding and could emote. Casey Kasem "owned" that show.

True- even Kasem worked past his radio announcer tone.

The amount of violence and bloodshed in the original version was astounding. The English dubs cut around it, or had 7-Zark-7 say that the thousands of people just killed were all just androids or some such.

Some DVD sets contain original cuts and American re-cuts. Often, the best version of any episode's story lay somewhere between the two.
