You have to swear to a loyalty oath.

I joined the program. Then I placed an order with Screen Archives. It arrived wrapped in wax paper with a dead fish. I will never betray Intrada again.

Intrada is also sending out anonymous-looking enforcers who will ask for the secret handshake. If you dont know it, well...let's just say you should have your affairs in order and your next of kin knows what to do with your soundtrack collection.

My copy arrived over the weekend despite ordering it a bit later in the week. Listening to everything, the sound quality is fantastic and everything is lovely, though it is a shame that almost 1/3 of Proudly We Hail is source music, but the rest of that soundtrack is lovely.

As I recall, though I don't have this CD yet, the general score of SO PROUDLY WE HAIL, is made up of themes adapted from other sources. First, the title theme, a re-working of that section from the "Star Spangled Banner," then "California Here I Come" turns up a few times, during sequences with the nurses on the liner.

The best thing in it, characteristically, is probably the love theme, especially during a kind of "honeymoon" Colbert has with "Superman" George Reeves, made when he was attempting romantic leading roles. He's OK in this, but the music is transcendent.

Really looking forward to hearing these scores isolated from the dialogue and sound effects I have heard on the TV tapes I recorded years ago.

Well I'm specifically referring to the TWO Christmas themed cues on there that are immediately dialed out for me from any score I get. Even with all of Rosza's masterful work it can't make me appreciate Christmas tunes on my soundtrack.

Well I'm specifically referring to the TWO Christmas themed cues on there that are immediately dialed out for me from any score I get. Even with all of Rosza's masterful work it can't make me appreciate Christmas tunes on my soundtrack.

Just to be clear, the track entitled "Christmas Tree" is 100% Rozsa and contains no "Christmas tunes." The latter half is, in fact, a development of the love theme that ends quite dramatically. Even the first half only sounds "Christmassy" because the idea is planted in our heads by the cue title. And the "Jingle Bells" track also ends with the love theme (in a jazz band arrangement by Gil Grau). I could argue that "Jingle Bells" is not a Christmas tune (nothing in the words refers to the holiday), but I certainly understand why anyone would associate it with Christmas anyway! Glad you're enjoying the rest of the album, though! smile

It was actually composed as a Thanksgiving song! But as you say, it's inextricably associated with Christmas now.

Thanks for that clarification. I have gotten in the habit of instinctively removing any Christmas related track names from my list before I even listen because all it takes is one listen to get the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. So I am glad that the Christmas Tree track is actually all original music.

I could have sworn that somebody on this forum shared their custom covers for The Hour Before the Dawn, The Man in Half Moon Street, and The Woman of the Town (maybe the same person who did the extra covers for the Paramount Noir collection that Intrada also put out?)

I figured those would be in this thread but no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Looked into this thread for the exact same reason. It seems there are no custom covers for these three scores?

I think our releases speak for themselves. WE did two volumes of Victor Young, not anyone else. WE were there for that material. WE have done, I don't know, a huge number of Paramount projects, many of them Golden Age. We have a huge number of Golden Age Fox titles coming over the next couple of years. WE have kept the Golden Age releases alive. Do you write this kind of shit about Intrada? DO YOU? Do you take them to task for the majority of their releases in the past year which are from the 1990s? DO YOU? I am disgusted by this. You're like some fickle high schooler and let me tell you it makes me never want to touch a Golden Age title again - because the more we seem to do the less they seem to sell, and you and the five others on this board who love them don't add up to an album that will break even or come anywhere close to it. If you saw the opt-out list on these Golden Age titles from the Indiegogo contributors, your mouth would hit the floor. And then to have to read this crap. Blechhh.

Bruce, I'm so sorry to hear the Golden age releases are selling so little; I'm doing my part to put in my share toward the continuance of your amazing cds.

I realize this is a year and a half old topic, but I came here interested in the topic cd because my sister just picked it up for me, and came across the terrible junk Bruce had to deal with.

Simply put, there are Kritzerland Golden age (and other) releases that are absolutely essential to anyone's collection. Kritzerland does a uniformly amazing job with the restorations, in fact imo they're right up there with any other soundtrack label as far as that goes. It astonishes me there would be as much negative feedback here as there was...

I should also mention, if you're looking for Kritzerland releases and they're not on the site, check Amazon under "whitesheik" as iirc that's Bruce. This way the moolah goes to the right people.
