I know I'm late to the party on this one, but I finally had the chance to listen to this and… WOW.

I've always felt the original album was a decent representation of the score; it had all of the highlights, and sounded pretty good, definitely captured the feel. It was a good album, although I was not a big fan of the placement of source music either. In fact, it was so good that I wasn't really thinking about Shawshank as something I'd want expanded, so seeing it come out was kind of out of left field for me.

BUT… I love this score, and I love this film, and so when I had an opportunity to, I picked it up along with a few other items. I figured if nothing else I'd get a few scattered gems here and there, a good discussion about the score in the notes, and I had to admit that the cover art is pretty beautiful.

Hearing the whole score played chronologically is indeed revelatory. The highlights are all still there, but now they emerge more organically than they did on the original album. It's more nuanced and involved when allowed the additional breathing room in this form, and it more than works on its own terms. And the sound is fantastic.

I'm really impressed.

Love this one as well, although the cover art just screams "bootleg" (and of course I'm not talking about the visual but about the way the fonts are set and used - ugly and unprofessional - a real disservice to this release).

In most case I'm not a fan of expanded releases - but the sequencing here makes for such an enjoyable listen, even more than the original album. Congrats for this one!

No offense but Drew Struzan knows a little bit more about cover design than you do.
