This one is going to be great!! Two questions though: 1- Is this the first time that a Thomas Newman score has been expanded? and 2- I'm going to be on my honeymoon and unable to purchase this until June 4th because I will have no internet until then, is this going to go so fast that it might be sold out by then? What are you thoughts? Thanks everyone!!

1. First expansion (that I can think of)
2. It won't sell out that fast. That has not happened in YEARS.

This expansion came out of left field for me simply because it is the first time a Newman score gets expanded and the existing album is pretty iconic. Seeing this announced brought back memories of watching Shawshank to spot what was left off the album and it makes me want to revisit the movie again. I own the US blu-ray with the Dolby TrueHD track, time to give it another twirl.

P.S. I hope La-La Land will walk the Green Mile in the near future. wink

[blockquote]When the director revisited the film for its newer HD transfer, he corrected a few minor mistakes and, most importantly, restored the musical crescendo in the “The Shawshank Redemption” cue, which had formerly been truncated in the original cut.[/blockquote]

I misremembered this — see below.

He did? I'll have to check that, because I thought I would have noticed!

Curious, I went to his SoundtrackCollector.com filmography to see if there had been any other expansions. I found:

"Whispers in the Dark" (Intrada, 2012)

So that makes only two expanded titles now from the composer's body of work. That's of course not counting cast & crew promos (like Pixar films).

The SC listing shows a Paramount RDAF CD, but with no tracklist. But if there was no score on it, that would mean LLLR's has accomplished a first.

There was no commercial release of this score before Intrada's. It had been announced as a Varèse release when the film was in theaters, but it never showed up. I remember looking and looking for it. No clue what that Paramount release listed on Soundtrack Collector is, but it was not a commercial release.

Great release !

Here's hoping 'Phenomenon' might follow one day from LaLaLand

I think this would be more fitting to be released by Intrada as it's a Disney title...

It's definitely how it appears on the Blu-ray. I'm not sure if that's what they play on television.

I'd love Scent of A Woman...though I'm not sure how much score is left. I'm a huge fan of that movie (and score).

Maybe I missed something, was there a press release? Either way, very excited!! And ditto on DECEIVED and PHENOMENON.

To be honest this isn't really on my 'must have' upgrades...just considering how strong the original release is... but, depending on what's included.. I'm certainly intrigued. My God I forgot the 'Marraige of Figaro' was included in that original album.

I'm going to check it out tonight, Swash. Very interesting!
