Sort of off topic but this 2010 article on how Saban built his empire is pretty fascinating. Long read but worth it.

"In 1983, Saban moved to Los Angeles, and made the same offer to many production companies that he had to Heyward: free music in exchange for publishing rights. Shuki Levy and Kaniel joined up with him there and began composing, but there was so much work that Saban had to hire more composers and arrangers. They were paid salaries, and signed contracts in which they relinquished their rights to royalties. Kobi Oshrat, an Israeli musician who has been a friend of Saban’s since 1972, said the deals made sense for artists in their position. “These were young composers, desperate to make money, so they agreed.” Royalties for music are typically divided equally between publisher and writer. From the early eighties on, Saban was listed as a publisher, and he and Levy were listed mainly as co-writers of the music, even though, according to Levy, Saban composed very little. (Saban says that he did write or co-write some songs, including the theme to the cartoon “Heathcliff.”) Each year, Saban earns substantial payments from his royalties as a writer; in 1999, he received more than two and a half million dollars."

Definitely worth the read. Thanks Tom. Also noted that after a deal with Fox Kids that Shuki Levy feels he was significantly shortchanged, and that he and Haim Saban no longer speak.

Even though I am not from France but live in Holland I was able to order this cd set from Amazon.fr wink

Same here on both accounts! Ordered it the day before yesterday :-) (and, of course, from the Netherlands).

Funnily enough I gat an email from Parallax on the same day that his re-recording of the score is done and ships at the end of the month. It seems that both can even arrive on the same day.

Hilarious!

Just noticed that there are a few copies from this seller out of Belgium selling pretty quickly - about 6 copies left as I post this in case anyone's after this gem.

Go here:
http://ulysses31.jimdo.com/

The Amazon France stock has completely run out, but the manufacturer has 96 copies remaining that have been put up for sale at that site. It's a limit of 2 copies per customer right now.

You can also keep tabs on the official Facebook page for this soundtrack release:

Thank you very much.
Although it's difficult for me now to buy it. Anyway, I'll try..

I think it should be stated from the start if this was a limited copies release (if it wasn't mentioned that is; if it was, I'm sorry if I missed it) so that we could make some priorities in our purchases.

Purchased my copy. Complete releases of Levy and Saban material can only be a good thing.

Must have taken a hell of a lot of work to get the rights to release this. Well done, gentlemen, your efforts are most appreciated.

Ignore that smiley face in the link - it still works.

Yikes! I sent my email in earlier today to order it, but still haven't had any word back so that I can pay for it. Worried I might miss out on this, but hopefully I'll get in at the last minute.

I love the music from this series. Funky, epic, spooky and really quite heart warming at times.

I put an order in on Monday evening. Within 15 minutes I'd received an email from ulysse31cd@yahoo.com with instructions for Paypal payment. The email reply isn't automated so you're relying on someone at the other end. Hopefully you'll have received it now.
