The Tomorrow Never Dies DVD comes with an isolated score feature so there is still a way to enjoy all the music.

Yes, but I found that when I tried this for the pre-credit sequence there were so many edits that the otherwise brilliant cue White Knight was significantly marred.

I concur: this is a truly excellent piece of music ... shame it feeds into the weak title song.

It's better than nothing, I agree, but the isolated score is still no substitute for having the complete score on CD. With the isolated score, you can't enjoy the music apart from having the film playing and the severe volume jumps significantly intrude upon the listening experience. I think it's a little bit of a stretch to say there's a way to enjoy all the music. wink

White Knight from Tomorrow Never Dies

Is this the best piece of underscore David Arnold ever composed for the Bond franchise? I never get tired of listening to it...

Absolutely agree - disappointe it wasn't used more. To be honest it's a shame it was in a James Bond movie because it was always going to be used sparely in deference to Monty Norman's theme (sic).

re: the soundtrack, does anyone know how the Chapter III release with most of the score came to happen? Since most JB scores have never been expanded (besides the 5 that were broadened in '03 & the expanded FYEO & TLD from earlier), that album always seemed like a big anomaly to me.

If one of the scores could be expanded that way, how come it's never been a possibility since?

... shame it feeds into the weak title song.

But it was supposed to lead in to the k.d. lang song, sharing the same melody, which would have been awesome.

Alas.

Oh you'll hear no disagreements from me. Does this isolated score have volume issues? I can't remember.

Good to hear we're on the same side in the fight for TND, Peter. wink

And yup, as Marcato mentioned, the DVD isolated score has all the volume fluctuations that accompany the finished film. I never thought to check out the feature on the Blu-ray however. Will have to check that out and report back!

Yes, but along with the level fluctuations you also have to listen to the music in real-time against the movie.
This is more a novelty than a satisfying way to listen to the music.

Pursuit at Port Au Prince from Quantum of Solace is one of my favorites and especially the very Barryesque music for the scene where Bond & Vesper sail into Venice in Casino Royale.
