Thanks L.C. I guess I'll have to keep waiting for an extended recording of ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS.

gsteven, if this is on your Wish list, I imagine you've posted about it before? Has Ray mentioned anything about its whereabouts?

The Charles Gerhardt suite from Key Largo is one of my favorite cuts from that whole series. Gorgeous finale.

ALL THAT HEAVEN ALLOWS is on my wish list! The Morgan suite is good, the Gerhardt is better (but shorter). A recording of the full score would be great!

This is a Frank Skinner score, and hasnt been re-recorded. Are you really talking about Steiner's ALL THIS, AND HEAVEN TOO? I've read that the Steiner library version had alot of surface noise.

We watched this last night.

The WB logo at the start was unfortunate; I often felt like I was watching a WB cartoon.

Max Steiner's subtle, moody underscoring is superb, but the dramatic stuff is really over the top to these ears.

The scenes with the Osceola Indians were really bad. Steiner's music for these scenes was awful, as was the "savage" dialog, e.g., "Him good friend to Indian." I realize that times change, but that kind of racist dreck is hard to watch in 2017.

All in all, though, a very good film.

That's interesting...........how on earth is : Him good friend to indian .......racist dreck .......or has political correctness gone totally mad which quite obviously in this case it has............

Visceral reactions are not an ideology. They are visceral reactions.

And considering that the film takes place in Florida in 1948, not only is this racist tripe, it is also an anachronistic and inaccurate portrayal.
