...it never occurred to me until now... but when a company like Intrada releases an LP of a score they recently released on CD.... are the sound samples of the LP ACTUALLY TAKEN FROM ONE OF THE LPS, or do they use the sound samples of a CD?

Does it matter?

Not to me, but I AM curious... I would think that they would HAVE to use an actual LP for the sound samples instead of using a CD, since they would definitely sound differently!

Well, if the appeal of vinyl is that it's analogue and not digital, you're out of luck transmitting that across the internet.

Yeah, Schiffy... I think that was what I was trying to say(But didn't do a very good job of)... I started to listen to something on youtube a few days ago and it was obviously taken from an old LP, and the sound was just atrocious. I would think if one of the companies were going to post sound sample of an LP release, they would use a pristine copy and use "state-of-the-art" equipment so they could post the very best sounding samples! Did that make any sense?

Why?Why?Why? You just released this on CD. I love INTRADA so much, but these first 2 vinyl releases have me stumped. I am hoping since it's Jerry it will sell well for you.

I would think that they use the digital master to create a lower bitrate sample, just like for their CD releases...

This thread reminded me of something I've thought about regarding Tarantino's needle drop soundtracks?
Most of Tarantino's soundtracks are comprised of selections which are 'needle drop' recordings and are complete with the pops and crackles inherent in the vinyl medium. Said soundtracks are then specially presented on vinyl..... which again contain more pops and crackles? Now Im really confused? big grin
