Looks like Sony is re-issuing the Home Alone OST CD on October 23rd, for the film's 25th anniversary

It s been twenty-five years since Macaulay Culkin was left Home Alone at Christmas. In celebration of the movie s anniversary, Sony Classical is pleased to release the 25th Anniversary Edition of the Home Alone Soundtrack with music by five-time Oscar-winning composer, John Williams. The score was nominated for an Academy Award® and the main title song, Somewhere in my Memory, was nominated for an Academy Award® and a Grammy®. Featuring original Williams music, the album also features classic Christmas songs including Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with Mel Tormé and White Christmas with The Drifters.

In a career spanning almost six decades, John Williams has composed some of the most recognizable film scores in the history of motion pictures including Star Wars, Jaws, the Indiana Jones films, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler s List and the first three Harry Potter films. Winner of twenty-one Grammy Awards®, four Golden Globe® Awards and five Academy Awards®, Williams is easily the most recognized composer working in film today. Through his career, Williams has worked closely with Steven Spielberg, composing music for all but two of his feature films, and most recently on the Academy Award®-nominated scores for The Adventures of Tintin, Warhorse and Lincoln.

Just noticed they re-titled tracks 15 and 17....

I'm sure the content is the same as before, though.

Nice, but I'm glad I picked up LLL's release a few years ago

I love the OST CD of this, a favourite Williams of mine. I wonder will this release have a booklet with notes and remastered sound?

Yowza! Is there even more that can be expanded/remastered from the film? The two Home Alone scores are among my favorites from Williams. I have the Sony album and the La la Land for the first film, and the Varese and La La Land versions of the second. I'd gladly buy them again if there's something new and really exciting to add. smile

The two retitled tracks are the La La Land track titles. Also, Walking Home looks to be adding the instrumental version, not on the original release.

What? It clearly indicates it has chorus and orchestra, just like the track does on the OST (where it was just called "Somewhere In My Memory").

But the original OST didn't have the orchestra version. Did it?

Firstly, that was a really funny reply.

Second, I'm glad you guys are re-releasing it. Allegedly.

Yes. Funny and delightful. Looking forward to this. I can always gift my previous LLL version if the alleged re-release happens. smile

Yes, exactly. The choir-less version was unique to the LLL expansion. A bonus track.

Not sure why you're both confused about this...

OK, since all the other tracks were labeled "Voice" or "Instrumental" and Walking Home said "Chorus and Orchestra Version" I thought that meant both versions appended together in one track but it makes sense that it meant "chorus and orchestra" as opposed to "orchestra only"

I definitely assume all 19 tracks are identical to the original CD's 19 tracks, barring any improvements in mastering.

As far as I know it is the same release as before with just an anniversary label slapped to the cover.

Trust me -- you guys will want something else later this year...something composer approved, completely remastered by a JW expert with bonus tracks, incredible notes and packaging

Just sayin'

So, a direct re-issue of your 2010 expanded version, then?

As long as its NOT a HOME ALONE, re-issue redux, I'll take it. Just wishful thinking... wink

But will it contain Williams' unique album program (which is the main selling point of this)?
