I'd say over the years this album has not gone more than 6 months without being played.

Thanks to the board I just found out there's a recent Special Edition Blu-Ray with all the extras. I always want the movie itself to be better than it is, but TD's score is maybe Edger's crowning achievement in his film scoring career.

TD's best score, IMO, is Thief, but they have many excellent scores (Wavelength, Firestarter, Near Dark, etc.), and Miracle Mile is definitely one of them!

The film is pretty good (I love the ending but its a bit too abrupt a shift from quirky fun to deadly seriousness) and I like the score - but that "All of a Dither" cue is what makes it for me. Its probably one of my very favorite TD cuts.

I dunno if it's their best score or not (and I saw the movie a million years ago and found it disappointing though not sure why now), but you all made me load it on my iPod, so thanks for that!

You can't go wrong with THIEF.

It is a fine score, very much representing their style in those Private Music years. Love On A Real Train is used again here ( this was around the time they used it - again - in 3 O'Clock High ), but that's OK. Haven't seen the movie in years, so I'm not sure how much score didn't make it to the album.

But, their best remains Thief.

You mean this from Three O'Clock High?

And this from Miracle Mile:

I'm not familiar with them using LOART in Miracle Mile and Three O'Clock High.

The director says in his commentary that he wrote the Miracle Mile script while listening to the Sorcerer soundtrack.

It isn't LOART note for note, but almost the same sequencer pattern, the same soft style to the music. First time I saw both films, that was the track that came to mind.

I don't mind it and TD used some music in several different projects, but, yep, that's the music I mean.

He specifically asked them to emulate Risky Business as the story goes. You can really hear it in "Running out of Time"

Ah crap, sorry for the second thread. I'm fine moving this discussion over there. They came first. Please don't post here anymore.

New German bluray just announced from Kino. Includes the film version of the score as an isolated channel.
The director just posted this on Facebook.

WHAATTT??

Yay! I had to doublecheck the date on your post before getting my hopes up.

That would be great!!! I have the US BD, but an isolated score from Tangerine Dream??? Bring it on!!!

Thanks for the heads up!

Best,
Burnie

So - i just found the upcoming BD release for Miracle Mile.

It will be released on May 19 on Turbine Media Group (www.turbine.de). You can pre-order 2 sleeve variants (both of them media books). Variant 1 (limited to 1000 copies) is an ugly still that was on the german vhs release and variant 2 (limited to 500 copies) the - also not my up of tea - original US one sheet that was on the US release.

All of the contents of the US release seem to be there - but it's also including said isolated score Audio track. I just hope that's not gonna be a sort of "audio only" version of the CD (like "The Thing" was).

I'm definitely very much looking forward to this release. Unfortunately it doesn't say if it's Region locked or not.

Hope that helps.

Best,
Burnie
