Is anyone else having trouble with disc 2 of POCAHONTAS?

When I open it in iTunes, it doesn't recognize the disc, and when I play it, the player freezes halfway through track 13, and won't play track 14 at all, which it says is over 15 hours long.

When I play it in other programs, I can play both tracks, but after track 14 ends, there's like a minute of "silence", and the player freezes during that silence.

I suspect this is due to the inclusion of bonus content on disc 2. The labeling says it's there, but it doesn't show up on my computer.

I remember in the 90s labels would often include quicktime trailers and other garbage on CDs which would almost never play, but would invariably make the last track, right before those files, play with problems.

Anyone else got this album and experiencing problems?

I'm assuming it's all discs and not just mine.

I've already returned one copy to Amazon because it had a bent digibook, hoping I don't have to return another, but alternately would do so if I learn other people are able to play their discs without problems.

Thanks!!

My problem was trying to play or rip the last track from disc 1 into iTunes. It kept skipping. The disc played fine in my Crosley CD player (which isn't high end at all) so I don't know what the deal is as to why I can't play it on my iMac or external disc drive.

I ripped both CDs just fine.

I won't receive my copy for a few weeks yet... What is the bonus material on the second disc?

No idea, it doesn't show up on my computer, just looks like an audio CD. However all the problems with the final track on disc 2 suggest it's probably hidden there. Whatever it is, I wish they had never included it.

I much rather have the CD, but if this is a universal problem I might get the digital download version instead.

I had no idea there was even bonus content on disc 2. When I put it in I got an icon which then let to a link to an app that opened a web browser for Disney. There was a problem with the web element and I got a "parent directory" which I was able to see all the Disney Legacy Collection titles. Clicking on them opened up web video extras. Some of the links were bad (Pocahontas) and some had no content (Sleeping Beauty). Others worked fine.

Disney seems to love that "web-based" bonus content idea, they've done it with a lot of their Blu-Rays too. Means you don't actually own any of it, and they can remove it from the web at any time. Not a fan.

And that's what they included to make the CDs virtually unplayable? Talk about a fail.

Thanks for checking though, glad to know all the discs are messed up like this, so there's no point returning mine again. frown

I'll report back if my discs give me any trouble.

For me, Disc 2 plays/ripped fine. The last track of Disc 1, however, could not be ripped to iTunes, though it played OK on a CD player. I was able to rip it using Windows Media Player just fine. Then was able to import it from there to iTunes. So, at least I have everything working OK in iTunes now.

I'm also having substantial difficulty getting the last track of Disc 1 ripped to my computer. I have tried ripping in EAC, Foobar2k, Windows Media Player, VLC, and now dbPoweramp. On my computer, the track starts to break up at around 1:20 whether I'm ripping the file or simply attempting playback. I've cleaned the disc, which looks looks perfectly fine, and the only other disc drive I have is my PS3, which does play the track without a hitch in the media player. I then attempted to use the PS3 to rip a WAV file that I would be able to move to my computer, but it too suffered a significant error in the ripping stage and wouldn't complete.

I am considering returning the album to Amazon as defective, but I'm concerned that all copies will be affected. I've never had a disc that plays back correctly on at least one device be this stubborn before.

Has anyone else had this issue rectified with a replacement copy?

I have had no issues ripping either disc through EAC.

Regarding tracks that won't rip. Just load the disc into your computer. When you see the disc image on your desktop, right click and "Open". Then physically drag the music files to your computer. They will copy over. You don't really need any software like iTunes.

Ripped both discs with no problems using dbpoweramp.

So hows the music? There were some sound quality issues with The Little Mermaid. Did they use the right cues and not drop out any instruments?

It sounds great! I didn't notice any dropout of instruments, but they did add a lot of "native" sounds to certain tracks, which aren't heard in the film mix. Also, it doesn't contain the complete score. There are some pieces missing here and there, but they are minor and won't be missed.

Thanks for the reply! They added native sounds? How weird. LOL
I love the score but don't know it intimately, so these minor details probably won't bother me.

I received my copy and I didn't have any problems ripping. However, I am unable to access the bonus content online. The link to the bonus content seems to be nonfunctional. Anyone else have this issue?

Can you list the new score tracks and what ost tracks have been renamed?
What is the total time of new score?
Thanks!

Highly recommend this release even if you have the ost

I'm pleased with this Legacy release.

And, it includes the original Gibson/Kuhn vocals to "If I Never Knew You," first cue on the bonus disk.

Not including that song in the movie was a real misfire.
