Well Happy Birthday Mr. Horner...near, far, wherever you are.
Didn't know his birthday was today, but yesterday went for a long hike here in Pisgah Forest in western North Carolina and played several Horner scores on a very nice "outdoorsy" Horner playlist. It was a beautiful day and the maestro's music only made it moreso. My playlist:
Vibes Where the River Runs Black The Life Before Her Eyes Field of Dreams House of Cards
Will continue on with more music of his today in celebration of the man's life and music.
It's bitter-sweet as this is my birthday as well, so with Horner's untimely death it makes this a particularly low day for me with commemoration thoughts for Horner in amongst a celebration of my own day. With such mixed feelings I don't know what music I'll listen to yet, if any.
Well Happy Birthday Mr. Horner...near, far, wherever you are.

You left out The New World, which seems like an obvious choice. Go get The New World.

"The New World" is a beautiful score....God bless James Horner.
It felt appropriate to give James Horner's final gift to us, Southpaw, its first listen today. It hit home just how much of a loss Mr Horner's passing is. Because not only did James do Southpaw out of the goodness of his heart, but he scored a film that anybody, absolutely anybody could have scored but he provided it with a score that only, ONLY James Horner could have given it. This is the true treasure of James Horner's legacy and I really hope, as tribute to him that we get to hear The 33, Living in the Age of Airplanes, The Magnificent Seven and the great tragedy of his career - his Romeo and Juliet.
