Justin,

I know a lot of film buffs (the kind who have seen 10,000+ films) who keep track of their thousands of favorite films, organized year-by-year and even color coded, on blogspot, and blogspot is free.

On blogspot the posts are allowed to be immense. You can probably just copy/paste your entire Rejected Scores site and create one long blog post, format it, and post it, then edit it as you update the information. Or you can even organize Rejected Scores by creating a different post per decade.

This seems like an OK format for your Rejected Scores list, would you agree? At least it would get your hard work and research out there. Just a thought.

This a case where I liked the music just fine when it came out, but over time, this has become one of my favorite Horner scores. A nifty set of themes with a few great set-pieces. I would really like a complete release. There is a lot of music that isn't on the album, and it's all good!

It think an expansion would also play well because there would be more variation over the playing time. If you take the tracks on the CD and program them into film order, it's a horribly unbalanced listening experience.

I enjoy the movie very much. I like that it's sort of an anti-action film, and I like the chemistry the cast had. They were all clearly having a lot of fun, particularly David Strathairn, and it's infectious.

My understanding is that even if all of the clearances can be had, the original tapes can only be transported two inches a second.

I got it. Ha.

Oh, I'm sorry -- I was thinking about "Swing Kids" -- that's the one he started writing before he died. After Goldsmith bowed out supposedly because of a scheduling conflict.

Justin, please provide more info if possible - this is quite a revelation.

By the way, when is your Rejected Scores site coming back? I know you've written that there is some issue with the web host, but surely there is another way you can get your content out there? Surely there is a better web host you can use if there is so much trouble? I only ask because I loved your site smile

The problem is, I am having a hard time finding a new host provider that:

1. Is free.

2. Has a short name. My old site, for example, was: rejectedfilmscores.150m.com
I don't want some long name that also looks suspicious, like:
rejectedfilmscores.freegatorhostingsite.com (made up site)

There are a number of sites that claim they are free, like 20m.com, but they really aren't -- you have to buy a domain name to get the free site, so it's not actually free. I'm unemployed, so buying a domain name is out of the question.

Justin - let me know what the domain name cost is and I would be happy to fund your site.

Great job on this, Dep!

"Spying on Janek" is among my holiest of unreleased Horner grails. I can't even articulate why; it's just a perfect match for the scene.

This is one of my favorite Horner albums but I would be especially curious to hear how this score plays start to finish away from the film, given the way the album was edited and sequenced. WOULD BUY.

Other than La-La Land saying they were turned down without reason, no other label has ever mentioned expanding this score either, to my knowledge.

It could be a cross-label thing since the score was released on a Sony label (Columbia Records, which I believe was who Branford Marsalis was signed with...that might've played a part) for a Universal film.

That was in 2012 or so. It'd be nice to know if anything has changed since then.

Neil, I appreciate the offer. I'd have to do some homework then to find a good site and inquire with them about the domain issue; I wouldn't want you, after all, to pay for a domain name and then a year later when it expires, the host provider deletes the site. I'm not saying this to milk more money out of you, rather I don't want for either of us to go through all this effort and some bastard provider that doesn't say what happens a year later on their site, remove the whole kit and caboodle.

If you want to give me an e-mail (in my profile), I'll save it and when I find a provider, I shall let you know.

Understood. I've emailed you so let's see what we can do smile
