Are you sure, DB?

I think it's just the beard that gives that impression.

Is there a clue perhaps in that this is on the non-film music side of the board?

For a fleeting moment I actually though it might be James Horner, dressed for some on-screen conducting part in a '40s period piece. That'd fit the old mike but not the grotty lecturn.

Hints: He often conducted other people's music, too. His own work was mostly in television. He is still alive.

It's a cool idea for a topic if we can keep it to one thread (and don't go completely bonkers with a gazillion threads, like Chickenhearted's 'guess the movie' things).

This, by the way, is Harry Rabinowitz.

Thor's answer is CORRECT - What gave it away? smile

Anyway, here's the next one, from the other side of the Atlantic:

Another board with the same thing repeated over and over again:

I remember seeing the face from way back when, in an old Cinemascore(?) magazine. For some reason, I confused him with Jerry Fielding for a number of years, even though they don't really look anything alike.

As for your new entry -- I have no idea!

Hey, can we please stop with the digs about chickenhearteds quizzes.
If you dont like em, fine, but the guy puts a lot of effort in.
And it creates a thread eventually for individual film titles. So its useful.

Good idea this composer quiz, although i have to say im poor on identifying composers pictures so it will be an education for me.
Way back in LP days it was rare to get a mugshot of the composer, so you followed peoples work you had no idea what they looked like mostly.

One person's digs is another person's humour.

It's being kept light-hearted.

I don't like 'em, they clog up the non-film score side even if I don't HAVE TO read them, and I will never understand why he can't have it in one single thread. So there. If you like them, great. I reserve my right to say that I don't.

This one has potential, though. There must be loads of obscure film composers whose faces we've never seen (pr. First Breath's thread over on the other side -- in fact, this should probably have been posted in the 'General Discussions' area).

And Bill and I reserve our right to say that we like them just the way they are.

So we can agree to disagree--except about this thread; I like it too.

Returning to the topic again: Who's he?

Hints: He came to Hollywood from abroad, worked for the same studio for a long time (1930s to 1960s).

No one? Really?

Final hint: He worked on "symphonies" a lot, but not the ones you'll normally listen to in a concert hall.
