Finally Go Shiina hired a decent arranger again and this time we are given a much improved soundtrack for God Eater 2 compared with the previous game in the series. The orchestra is admittedly a bit thin but the orchestration and melodies make up for any limitations here.
Sounds great. As usual, full-blooded orchestral scoring coming out of Japan and not a peep on this board about it. They'd rather complain about the five second Goldsmith cue missing from some third-rate effort of his or debate an upcoming Brian Tyler score.
Well, I'm glad WE enjoy and are aware of this music, good friend, even if we're alone in our appreciation.
Thanks for the link. Three CD seems a lot -- are the scores from God Eater 2 and the Rage Burst expansion mixed together, or separated, do you know?
Thanks!
Seems like this 3 disc set includes both. There is of course some amount of synth work in between the orchestral stuff but still plenty of solid orchestral material to make it worth it. Plus the nice thing about 3 disc game soundtracks is they are usually priced like this so you get 3 discs for $40 where one disc of an Anime score would be $20-25. And at this price of $40 you can get free shipping through Yesasia.
Hmm. Looking at this site - http://vgmdb.net/album/50293 - it looks like maybe the first disc and a half is God Eater 2 and the second disc and a half is Rage Burst, assuming it's arranged separately.

Sorry, I'm weird about this kind of thing.
Yeah sounds about right. So both scores included in one 3 disc set.
Not for game scores in Japan. They regularly get 3 and 4 (and sometimes 5) disc releases. Remember of course a video game isn't a two hour movie -- many games have far more than that of just cut scenes, to say nothing of gameplay hours.
Well Japan tends to have some strange names for things so something called Big Eater wouldn't be completely impossible. I don't really care what the music is from as long as it is enjoyable. In this case I was surprised because the soundtrack to the first game was disappointing but apparently the game was popular in Japan so it got a sequel.
