ALIEN NATION---remake underway of the 20th Century Fox 1988 sci fi movie that starred James Caan and Mandy Patinkin. The remake script is by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (IRON MAN).
STAR WARS: ROGUE ONE---Ben Mendelsohn (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES) is rumored to be appearing in the spinoff movie in a lead role.
DOWNTON ABBEY---Carnival Films announced the series is ending, “The time has come that we must announce that Series 6 will be our last visit to Downton Abbey. It has been an incredible journey for all of us at Carnival. Thank you to all the fans and supporters of the show who have helped make it such a success, and such a joy to work on.”
THE LAYOVER---Kate Upton and Lea Michele star in this comedy movie in which two girlfriends have a layover in St. Louis when their airliner is diverted due to weather and then find themselves competing for the same guy. William H. Macy is the director.
X-MEN: APOCALYPSE---Lana Condor will play Jubilee in the sequel.
INDEPENDENCE DAY 2---Travis Tore (BOARD WALK EMPIRE) has joined the sequel cast in an undisclosed role.
NOCTURNAL ANIMALS---Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks to star in this movie based on he novel in which a woman receives a novel manuscript from her ex-husband which leads to uncovering dark secrets from the past. George Clooney is a co-producer.
FIFTY SHADES OF GREY---director Sam Taylor-Johnson said she is not returning for the sequel.
FRIDAY THE 13Th---the reboot movie script will be written by Nick Antosca (HANNIBAL).
ROBOTECH---Sony Pictures is developing a live action movie franchise based on the anime.
SHOWTIME---the new seasons of RAY DONOVAN and MASTERS OF SEX will premiere on July 12.
