"Please note - Producer, presenter and film music expert Tim Burden and BAFTA-winning composer Christopher Gunning will give a pre-concert talk about the world-famous Star Wars score from 6.45pm. It is free to attend and all are welcome.
Be prepared for a truly spectacular evening of music from one of the greatest cinematic composers of all time, as the Ulster Orchestra presents the second of its Sci-Fi series, a special Star Wars concert in advance of the much-anticipated release of Episode 7.
This concert celebrates Episodes 1-3, featuring the operatic Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace, the soaring love theme, Across the Stars from Attack of the Clones, the choral showdown from Revenge of the Sith, Battle of the Heroes and the many familiar themes for which John Williams has won countless awards. Come dressed as your favourite character and be prepared to be transported to a galaxy far, far away".

This was a magic concert with a wide spectrum of audience. Imperial stormtroopers patrolling the aisles.
Both orchestra and chorus were first rate, under a spirited conductor, and FSM's Tim was a really keen and relevant compere.
Plus a great chance to hear Maestro Gunning discuss his career and Williams' too, with an insight into Williams' influences (Walton, Elgar, Shostakovich and Prokofiev, Holst etc. and Ravel). Joel McNeely's powerful suite was a world premiere, and as well received as the rest. 'Varied programme.
The Ulster Orchestra has had a tough time recently keeping afloat, but they weathered the storm. They deserve better support overall.
I missed the 'Metropolis' unfortunately, which I'd really hoped to attend, but maybe someone who was there can comment ....
