My search for decent album art continues...

As mentioned above, Google is hit and miss, especially with older titles, and even the large images are often just scans without any clean up.

I've also used Album Art Downloader and although a bit easier than Googling, it's difficult to find good quality scans of older stuff.

I just checked AAX today and I can't even access the front page anymore. How stupid is this Blockscript nonsense, as if only non-American residents are going to pillage the site.

Anyone have any other suggestions for high-quality soundtrack cover art?

Finding decent cover art is by far the most time consuming part of making a playlist.

Finding decent cover art is by far the most time consuming part of making a playlist.

I have recently moved to another city and tried to catch up on ripping my soundtrack collection to iTunes, before my stuff went into storage. It took me the better part of five nights to rip everything I wanted to rip. I am still trying to get the cover art sorted out but it's incredibly time-consuming and labourious. If only some young upstart would code an app that automates this process (iTunes is useless in this regard as 90% of the stuff we FSM'ers listen to ain't available for DL).

Has anyone been banned from Album Art Exchange for the reasons of "Trying to get you to look at your messages! SECOND NOTICE and permanent ban will be next"?! I have emailed them with no response. I'm not sure what messages I am meant to have looked at... I certainly don't think I've done anything egregious such as spamming or antisocial posting (indeed I just use it to get artwork as, you know, most people do). Anyone else encounted this?! Thanks!

I was banned because I provided too many negative ratings (I have high standards and there was a lot of poor work on the site) and not enough positive ones. The owner/moderator claimed I had an obvious "agenda" and could not be reasoned with. I deleted my highly-rated content before he banned me, and then he restored my covers after the ban. Fruitcake.

i kinda wish there was a site devoted to the back of lp's so you can see the back. often times i've needed to see the back, but can't. Great site though.

Wow, that's kinda insane! I finally got my access restored and the message I had failed to read was asking about the fact that I download a lot of soundtrack covers and he (one of the moderators) couldn't believe that someone would own that many soundtracks. Also he said there were some issues of people using images elsewhere, but admitted that he had not made any attempt to actually work out whether I was doing this (I'm not, it's for my iTunes library, like everyone else!). Strange...

I got a similar message when I was in the midst of tagging my entire collection in 2013 -- "You're downloading every soundtrack cover I have!" or some such. I might have been particularly suspicious because I was grabbing both the 600x600 covers for mp3 tags and higher resolution versions of the same covers for album directories. My home IP got cut off, but not my office (and certainly not my whole country, since I'm in the US). Eventually I noticed that my ban had been lifted, and I guess I haven't used the site enough for the mods to notice since finishing that first tagging project.
