Gave a listen to the Irwin Kostal re-recording after Christmas. Blown-frickin'-away! Anyone got a clue as to the recording process on this one, and the remastering process, too?

Listening to this teenage favorite with all the harshness from the original CD transfer gone is manna from soundtrack heaven!

I have the original release with the maroon cover. Your saying it's worth double dipping I presume?

The original Stokowski soundtrack has been remastered and is much improved.

Yes, a bona fide double dip candidate. Five stars.

The Stokowski cd set I have from many years ago had been digitally processed to a ridiculous degree. Huge expansion swings and noise gating. It was noticed at the time.

I captured some album art from albumartexchange.com for this one, in a complete variety of resolutions, but these lean toward a powdery blue, when the actual CD book cover is more of a violet.

Anyone know of any online covers that would be more color accurate?

How close is the Amazon rendering?

How close is the Amazon rendering?

The Amazon cover is closer to the physical CD book cover, but not quite as far toward violet as it is in reality. Probably the closest-to-color-accurate available, though.

Consider using some free or cheap image editing software to better approximate the color you want. Here, I've taken the Amazon rendering on the top and "purpled" it up a little for you below.

Intrada has also done a nice job of making available covers for CDs they sell, even if they're not Intrada. Here's Fantasia.

Thanks for the cover takes, fellows. Bob, your purpling is definitely closer to physical reality, but not yet dark enough. Maybe its just my display. Maybe the deep, dark violet of the CD book can't really be duplicated on all but the best displays. Anyway, the music is what counts, and Disney has delivered in spades.

Congratulations to us FANTASIA fans.

For me, the bonus cues of Sterling Holloway narrating Peter and the Wolf and The Sorcerer's Apprentice were worth the price of admission. That was one of my earliest albums, haven't listened to them for more than 45 years.

(Never had the soundtracks since I've always had other versions of the Classical works I wanted, but lovely to have them as well, of course.)
