Looking at my Star Trek: The Original Series box set I notice that on this day in 1965 Alexander Courage and a bunch of talented musicians sat down and recorded the first ever music for Star Trek.

I bet they didn’t think many people would care.

I know Gene Roddenberry wound up taking his cut, but did writing the Star Trek theme ever wind up paying for a house, or a boat, or at least a lot of really good scotch for Mr. Courage?

Actually I think the real first piece of music was recorded by Wilbur Hatch as pre-music for The Cage, with a 50th anniversary a few weeks ago.

But good spot!

I'm sure he did very nicely indeed from that theme.
