AMERICAN FILM INSTITUTE---the AFI's 11 movies of 2014 selected for being "culturally and artistically representative of the year’s most significant achievements in the art of the moving image" are (in alphabetical order):

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---spoiler alert (see below).

KRYPTON---new Syfy prequel series about Superman's grandfather Kal-El and his home planet of Krypton described as "Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known."

SCREAM QUEENS---new Fox comedy-horror series from the creators of AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Season 1 stars Jamie Lee Curtis (HALLOWEEN) and Emma Roberts (AMERICAN HORROR STORY: FREAK SHOW) and is set on a college campus where a series of brutal murders have occurred.





THE LIBRARIANS---the premiere of the TNT series based on the tv movies drew a record 7.3 million viewers (live and same day). Noah Wylie, Bob Newhart, Jane Curtin and Rebecca Romijn star.





FALL OF GIANTS---ABC 10-part World War I miniseries underway at Sony Pictures Television based on the first book in the Ken Follett Century novel trilogy. If successful, the remaining two novels will become future miniseries.

WAYWARD PINES---Fox/M. Night Shyamalan 10-part miniseries underway in which an FBI agent investigates the disappearance of two other agents in the small town of Wayward Pines. Matt Dillon, Melissa Leo, Carla Gugino, Terrence Howard and Toby Jones star. Premiere is May 14, 2015.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY---Al Pacino confirmed he met with Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, “I would imagine...there’s something he feels is right for me..." Earlier, Pacino said he was very impressed with GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

SEBASTIAN X---movie underway based on the graphic novel. Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE) is the director, Gale Anne Hurd (THE WALKING DEAD) is co-producer and Bill Marsilii (DEJA VU) is the writer.

JOY---Edgar Ramirez (ZERO DARK THIRTY) will co-star with Jennifer Lawrence in this David O. Russell biomovie about Joy Mangano, inventor of the Miracle Mop.

KICK BOXER---Gina Carano has the joined the remake movie cast as a fight promoter.

TEEN TITANS---TNT animated series pilot underway about [Dick Grayson], “who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.”

THE LEAGUE---FXX announced that the upcoming Season 7 will be the last season.

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE---a source said Gotham Police Commissioner James Gordon is not in the sequel because he is already dead, "How and at whose hands I cannot tell you - all that's noted in the script is that there's a memorial plaque to James Gordon."
