If the "big band" is "under the direction of Johnny Williams" on Sound Stage!, what exactly did Andre Previn do on that recording?

Arranged, perhaps?

Interesting : just last month I found a copy of the original LP of Andre Previn in Hollywood in a charity shop in Glasgow for 99 pence. My reason for buying it ? Hugo Friedhofer wrote the liner notes for this record! I wonder if Dutton/Vocalion have reprinted them with the art-work? Hope so!

The best Williams/Previn album isn't even listed there, namely "Andre Previn Plays the Music of Young Hollywood Composers", featuring -- among others -- a cue composed by Williams.

An indication of Previn's star power at the time that the arranger gets top billing over the composers or conductor.

Two cues, actually.
