It looks as if the expanded 2003 versions of Thunderball and You Only Live Twice are OOP. Does anyone know why? There is a speculation that Thunderball may be remastered into a 2 CD version.

But maybe this time it's true?

These scores should never be out of print - unless replaced by something more comprehensive.

Oh please let it be so.

And finally expansions of others.

Hmmm. You could always get Robbie Williams' Millennium.

That'd be great. Perhaps for THUNDERBALL's 50th anniversary next year?

I've had the extended versions of these for years now. I don't want to pour cold water on all this, but could it be they've gone out of print because they've been in print for years & sales have slowed to less than a trickle. If a complete two-disc remastered version was coming, I wouldn't think it's coming from EMI, maybe licensed out.

Oh, how I wish for an expanded Golden Gun and View to a Kill.

Hoping against hope this means an avalanche of Bond music is coming.

But more likely, as mentioned, it just means those titles have been out a really long time.

I will only be truly satisfied once I have the “Bond To India” cue from Octopussy.

I been waiting years for this one and other great Barry cues from other bonds that have not been expanded

Thunderball remains one of my favourite scores ... indeed: my second favourite, and it includes my single most-loved piece of music: the instrumental title theme (tr.7) ... and yet, since I started noting when I played scores/albums, etc. I find I haven't played it for at least 11 months. Is this a sign that perhaps it is not so highly regarded by me subconsciously as perhaps I think?

Just try beating me to the purchase as and when that re-mastered, extended edition is released! smile

As for its fellow, You Only Live Twice, this is slightly down my list of favouirtes but, having bought the LP/CD at least four times to date (plus numerous compilation albums featuring some of the score) I'm sure I'd buy another release if it promised more and/or better reproduced music.

And, yes, this goes for the remainder of the JB/JB007 scores to a large extent. Despite my waning interest in film scores (albeit slight) these iconic scores are wonderful to re-visit time and again ... even if it's not every month or two.

Since it was amongst the likes of Lukas who rolled up his enthusiastic sleeves to get the expanded Bonds out in the first place, if these are to come round again I'm left (with crinkled brow) wondering what pent up fountain of youth would be willing to charge the wall this/next time round?

There's only two cues I want more than anything else that still haven't been released.

The film version of "A Pleasant Drive in St. Petersburg" from GoldenEye and the entire Free Fall cue from Moonraker.

Yes, Stephen. Like an ever-evolving SPECTRE plot, the time for a high-tech insurgency of indiscriminate re-mastering is nigh. Listen to Mike Matessino's re-master of RIO CONCHOS and tell me it can't be better than ever!
