The series is amazing with outstanding performances from Charlie Cox and Vincent D'onofrio.

The score is unremarkable. A Facebook friend of mine (whose knowledge of film scores seems to start at The Bourne Identity and end with The Dark Knight) raved specifically about the reprise of the main theme in the climax of the season finale. When I watched the scene it came off like a ticker tape parade for someone no one cared about. The theme (and all of the underscore) is so completely generic.

I agree wholeheartedly with this description. The show is the finest Marvel production since the Raimi era of Spider-Man and the score is about as lackluster as it gets.

We get this but still not a note of McCreary's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.? frown

Just caught up with this and will be watching ep 11 tonight. I don't think it's been a week since I started and have really enjoyed it. And I speak as someone who doesn't keep up with all the Marvel output. But I am pretty impressed by the writing, and the performances by the lead and the Kingpin, with perhaps the latter just stealing the show.

Yes the scoring is unremarkable, but the opening theme has grown on me to the point where it's my head, so I really look forward to the finale everyone talks about where it's used. And of course to see the suit finally appear, though it doesn't look that good from the still I've seen. Maybe it looks better in the episode.

Am also looking forward to seeing the penultimate episode directed by our own, speaking as a Doctor Who fan, Euros Lyn. Interesting to tenuously note that the next show in the projected group of linked series, Jessica Jones, stars David Tennant. Lyn directed some of his best Doctor Who episodes. Oh, and I met him. Nice guy!

So Season 2 starts on the 18th. Doesn't anyone know Netflix rolls out new shows: is it midnight, so just a few hours from now?

I believe it's 12 midnight on the west coast and 3am on the east coast. I was going to stay up until midnight, but if it's not coming on til 3am, guess I'll be binging it tomorrow afternoon! I just re-watched the S1 finale, and the ending is so good! The music is great at the end.

While music is a continuation of S1 sound, I think it got somewhat better. It also sounds more and more like The Raid 1/2 score. At least in terms of action.

is anyone still watching this?
I have been 'painfully' making my way thru the series - one ep to go.

It has really been disappointing. The reappearance of Kingpin got my hopes up, briefly, as he was only in two episodes.
Way too gory, way too many plot lines and villains.
Wonder if there will be a season 3

I basically binged the entire seconds season. Loved it. Well written characters, acting with nuance, great atmosphere. Perhaps the arc isn't more inspired, and the main plot (regarding The Hand) is a bit convoluted and it certainly does miss the magic of discovery the first season has (as sequels usually do), but not enough to keep me from liking it. Thought it was solid.

The score to the second season has also been released. The first album was quite generic. I have yet to listen to the second, hopefully it will stand out more.

I watched all of season 2. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the first season. I thought the Punisher arc of the season worked far better than the Elektra story arc, and that the first half of the season was stronger than the second half. One thing that bugged me about the Elektra storyline: The Hand has seemingly limitless resources and uses modern technology when it suits their needs, so why did they continually insist on using ancient weaponry? The non-ninja minions use guns, but none of the ninjas use guns or other modern weaponry. I can see circumstances where a bow would be preferable to a gun, but those are pretty limited circumstances. One aspect of You Only Live Twice that I liked was that the ninjas from that movie adapted modern technology to suit their needs rather than insisting on using ancient weaponry that had been surpassed centuries ago.

Netflix confirmed that a season 3 will be coming, but it won't be until after Defenders, which features Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist, and I believe is coming out in 2017. So my guess is that the next season will be sometime in 2018.

I liked Paesano's score for this season, and I still need to download the score.

Yes this. I almost wished they don't two separate mini seasons.

Also I kind of wish they'd do a Page & Nelson spin-off (maybe team them with She-Hulk), make it a courtroom drama about the fall-out from powered nonsense, because that stuff was way more compelling to me than Matt punching people a lot and being very tortured and righteous about it.

Physical release coming from Mondo

Daredevil - Season One - Original Soundtrack LP. Music by John Paesano. Artwork by Matthew Woodson. Available for the first time in any physical format. Pressed on 180 Gram Red Vinyl. Limited to 3000 Copies. $25

John Paesano's score for Marvel’s Daredevil Season One had the unenviable task of setting the tone for the new Netflix television series. Right from the opening credits Paesano creates a powerful sense of urgency and an undercurrent of darkness, crafting some of the most kinetic musical sequences in the Marvel Universe including the bombastic tracks "Hallway Fight" and "Stick."

Season 2 soundtrack is now only $5.99 on Amazon (probably for a limited time). Still full price on iTunes, and season 1 is not discounted.

Vinyl. Fucking 19th century-technology vinyl.

If this is the only physical release for this music, then the world is fucking doomed.
