I don't know if we need a Doc Savage soundtrack. I've never seen it. Sousa seems, to me, to be a lousy way to go for a film score, but hey, it's De Vol, or was it Mizzy, or was it Hefti, it doesn't really make a difference because their names always telegraphed what you'd get musically, which was to my ear, functional and pleasant and at other times, awkward and corny.
Yeah, corny, like the musical ideas for DS-MOB.
But I'd have to get it. I'm a De Vol completist. (My Three Sons & Cat Ballou)

I think the previously mentioned George Pal sampler contains most of the major set pieces from the score. So I don't believe a more complete release is really necessary. But other releases fom de Vol would be greatly appreciated like Good Neighbor Sam with its incredibly catchy main theme or The Cisco Kid or...
Sadly there is very little of de Vol's music published. The only other CDs of his I have are Pillow Talk, Hush, Hush, Sweet Charlotte (which is marvellous), The Flight of the Phoenix and Emperor of the North/Caprice plus The Choirboys, The Dirty Dozen and Krakatoa on LP. That's very little for a composer who was after all one of the most successful film composers of the 50s and 60s. That's probably due to the fact that he specialized in comedies which don't tend to be very popular with soundtrack collectors.
