Pre-IMDB, pre-internet... Those were the awful days to be a film music collector.

You had to look painstakingly for your info on releases. Or who scored what, for that matter. I remember getting my first edition of the Lone Eagle film composers guide to use as a checklist for my collection. I treasured it, although it was heavily abused big grin

Anyone else got it?

I don't remember that book, though I have read Steven C. Smith's Bernard Herrmann biography.
But the books by Tony Thomas proved to me an invaluable resource in earlier days.

I also have a copy. A great resource for who scored what for what studio.

I have the yellow 4th edition (1997/98). I still use it if I'm not online and I need some info.

I also had another edition, I think it was the third.

This was really from before my interest in film music was perked...interesting to see - thanks for posting - good to know there was at least something like that. Anyone know what happened to Mr Smith?

Yes I bought that book decades ago. Very helpful, although to be honest very incomplete. For sure when it comes to birthdays and where they were born etc etc.We have come along way from those days when it came to information. I did a few similar type books in my younger days. Back when info was a project where you could satisfy many people. Now everybody can know nearly everything in a few minutes.
