Not an Apes scholar but they did play Conquest on local syndicated television in the 70's in the North/East. It is a shockingly violent film though appropriate for the context of the story. Of course tame compared to what is produced nowadays.

I honestly don't remember Conquest ever being shown on TV. In fact, IIRC when I did see it it was on encore or Starz cable channels in my early 20s. That film does stand apart from the other films even though I was traumatized by the finale to ESCAPE.

BftPoTA on the other hand, was "break-out-every-action-figure-and-let's-reenact-the-climactic battle-at-the-end-of-the-film" sort of fare. I didn't have the Mego apes toys, so Stormtroopers had to fill in as the gorillas.

"No! You think the unthinkable! You know our primal commandment! Ape shall not kill ape!"

"I know...does Aldo?" (Don't get me started on the Star Trek book and records!)

The voice of Caesar in Power's BftPotA is also the voice of Captain Kirk in the Star Trek books and records.
