I would just like to say I agree with you it is a very underrated beautiful score. Glad you brought it up.

this was the film where gina lured me to a pagan ceremony for wild sex against the rocks. yul bryner got there ready to turn his back on everything for her but i snuck in there first. She went back home in her chariot with a lollo smile on her face.

I just wish that the entire score could get an official release. Beyond that, I also wish that Twilight Time would think about adding "Solomon and Sheba" to their blu-ray release calendar. It may not be everyone's "cup of tea" but many of us really loved it and remember it especially fondly. It certainly is colorful, epic and deliciously campy with the unforgettable "orgiastic dance" that had this kid swooning over Gina Lollobrigida. More Nascimbene films in BD would be wonderful, as well, such as "The Vikings" or "Francis of Assisi" which would be a dreams-come-true for King Vidor and Michael Curtiz collectors. How about it TT?

I'd like to know what the extra 14 minutes on the Soundtrack Library cd contain . I dont remember this release - Comparing tracklists, the 14 minutes seems to be made up from these extra cues: Overture, Intermission, First Attack. Plus a longer 'Prelude to Battle' cue. Soundtrack Library CD-71 01. Overture 5:37 02. Main Title 2:09 03. Opening Battle 5:10 04. Death of David 2:43 05. Solomon Talks To God 2:00 06. A Day Together - Jugglers 4:26 07. Blind To Truth - Finale Act One 4:53 08. Intermission Music 5:17 09. Orgy Scene 10:29 10. Death Of Abishag 2:07 11. Aftermath 3:09 12. First Attack 1:32 13. Revelation - Prelude To Battle 1:45 14. Final Battle 1:20 15. Miracle And Finale 5:49 Runtime aprox. 59 minutes Legend CD 14. Main Titles 02:07 15. Death of David 02:41 16. Solomon In The Temple 01:56 17. Love Scene 04:25 18. Final Part One 04:47 19. Rah-Gon and First Battle 05:15 20. Orgiastic Dance 10:27 21. Death of Abishag 02:04 22. Prelude To Battle 01:11 23. Final Battle 01:22 24. Aftermath 03:07 25. Purification and End Titles 05:46 Of course this isn't the complete score as Malcolm Arnold helped out with the composing. How about that combo!

I don't suppose anyone has ever gone through the LP along with the movie to identify the LP tracks, have they? I've just transferred my UA LP (mono, unfortunately), and will later this evening checks those tracks against the CARTHAGE/SOLOMON CD. If there's anything on the LP that isn't on the CD, I'm going to force myself to watch the movie and try to figure where they would go. Also of interest, the Legend CD with THE VIKINGS/SOLOMON contains some SOLOMON bits not on the CARTHAGE/SOLOMON CD, like one cue, one really tiny bit of Orgiastic Dance, and the end of the finale.

Totally agree, Ed. But has TT released any UA films ?? Isnt it more likely to be be an MGM BR? Another Mario Nascimbene scored epic that is more likely to be a TT release is the Columbia's BARABBAS(1962) - maybe the Roadshow version in 70mm + a longer running time. I'm one of the 'few' that saw BARABBAS during its very short Roadshow run in NYC. From what I recollect the version that is available on DVD is the complete film-except for Overture and Entr'acte(same music as Intermezzo on the lp or cd). Of course the music cue leading into the intermission has been cut from the film. Other than the Roadshow trappings I believe the dvd is complete.
