To the tune of 'That's Amore'...all together now...

'When the ball hits your head
and you're sat in row Zed
That's Zamora'

I believe that song was sung to him by HIS OWN FANS!!!
After his £100 million plus goal yesterday, who's laughing now!

Oh, and the Champions League Final.
I started out wanting the (supposed) underdogs Atletico to win, but as the game progressed and only one team wanted to win it in the correct manner (to me), I was happy Real took the trophy.

I felt sorry for the Athletico fans, especially those old enough to have gone through the same thing against Bayern Munich in the early 70s. I wonder if they nobbled the ref then, too, as in 1975...

Athletico's manager lost them the game. A fresh pair of legs towards the end could have made all the difference as his players went down with exhaustion, but he wasted that opportunity by ludicrously playing the hamstrung Costa and throwing a substitution away in the first few minutes.

Correct manner? Seeing as how the Athletico side has been put together for less than the cost of newly-promoted QPR, I thought their manner was entirely commendable.

Just wondering if Thor or First Breath have any comments regarding Celtic appointing Ronny Deila from Stromsgodset as their new manager? He's a relative unknown quantity over here, a pretty bold move by Celtic I would have thought.

Yes, and Phillippe Sendimoff as well. Unless there's a dramatic change in ownership at Villa, I reckon they are sure to go down next season.

For some reason I thought you were german, Thomas.

Deila has achieved great results with Strømsgodset (45 home games without losing). He is only 38 years old, but I have always imagined him as older, because of his knowledge. It was a surprise here too that he went to Celtic, but I would say chances are good that he will succeed.

villa have always had a capacity to take over the hill players worse than west ham do.
Even the ones championship teams wince at taking a chance on.
He has been rubbish at liverpool and since west ham took him, a waste of space with two goals in two seasons i think. Oh and two crosses in last seasons man utd game.
If aston villa youngsters need to learn how to let runners go then stand puffing on the edge of the box with their hands on the hips as the goal goes in then he could easily make them all masters at it.
Thats villa down then, even without senderos blunders.

Not quite, Jon. Must be my love of Europop gave you that idea! I am Nederlands though, my father is from Limburg. I spent a lot of time there when I was younger, not so much latter-day.

Certainly be interesting to see how Deila goes, he's an interesting choice and I think the supporters will take to him.

Chelsea sign Cesc Fabregas. He never should have left Arsenal but then he needed to piggyback on Messi and co at Barca so he could get a CL winner's medal. wink

A good signing for chelsea - and, however many of them go on radio and tv to say they aint Bothered - its one in the eye for arsenal fans to see their darling go to their richer rivals. Ouch.

Speaking of Chelsea, David Luiz is "outta there", as he signs with PSG:

Prem league fixtures out today.

Here they all are. Certainly an easier start for Old Flathead than Gollum last season. The computer must have listened to their whinging and moaning...

Well, you're pleased to take the mickey, Thomas, but I'll just ask you one question - had you heard of Arsene Wenger before Arsenal made him their manager? Eh? Eh?
