And a happy Fourth to you all too! Fireworks are legal here and last night I walked up to the top of the hill in the cemetery and had a grand view for miles in all directions. Why buy fireworks when your neighbors near and far set them off by the carload for absolutely hours? I had a grand time. So I sure like that pic of Scott there on the car. I know a lot of people never liked Scott, but I always had a soft spot in my heart for him. And I have to ask (after watching Mission: McCall again) am I the only one who took forever to see the humor in Mickey's remark? You know, when he was driving Dyson's red car he said, "I never knew McCall had such good taste in cars!" That blew right on by me for ages until one day I happened to think, "This from a guy who had spent years riding around in McCall's Jag?" I finally got the humor but it took me that long. *facepalm*

NeoT, thank you so much for the David Letterman video. I enjoyed that so much and I bet everyone else will too. That was awesome! And did you notice Edward had his Equalizer suit, tie, and pin on (or does he dress like that all the time?)? You can't ask for much more than that! I think if I could, I'd go back and live in the 80s and never go any further. However, it is nice to know Letterman thinks old people my age (now) were middle aged.

Yeah, I know exactly how McCall feels. Too many bloody battles. They'll wear a person down, like water eroding rock. One day you see yet another one coming up and you're so tired and you think it's finally time to just give up, put up, and walk away. That's when you're old. I guess I'm getting profound in my old age too, what?

Hey Souffle! That's pretty fun to say. Ah, the perils of being a poet. I think McCall actually addressed how he got all his money in Prelude. He told Scott that if an agent was good he could command some high fees and the smart ones invested it, or something to that effect . Curious, because that would have meant that he freelanced as well as worked for the Company. I would have thought he was just paid a regular salary. Of course, working as he did, he might have had an opportunity to do some private enterprises. In China Rain it appeared he did not take advantage of his job to make any money off the heroin which must have been flowing into/out of Cambodia. If you have seen or read Air America, then you know what was going on at that time. As for the dog in the pilot, my feeling was that McCall had just settled in New York and was probably still looking for a permanent place to live. He may have been staying with a friend or in a friend's apartment, since it seemed different from his regular apartment which appeared in the 2nd show, China Rain. The dog could have belonged to his friend - maybe he was just dogsitting for awhile. On the realistic side, maybe the producers thought the dog just added a sense of elegance to the man. As to the cancellation, there was a writer's strike on during the 4th season, I think. I remember how annoyed I was at the time, but I had some very bad things going on during the end of summer that year and didn't pay a great deal of attention to a lot of things going on right then. And speaking of bad things.....I am desperately trying to find a job in the next 30 days, but I may be faced with a choice of paying car insurance or paying my computer bill. So if I disappear, it's because my connection was turned off. I will try and post from the library - we'll have to see how it goes. Just wanted to let you guys know in advance. By the way, it might behoove everyone here to get some storage device (you'll need at least a gigabyte because each episode of The Equalizer is about 350 MG and there's 88 episodes) and then download all the Equalizer episodes to your hard drive or storage device from Ice Films if possible. In the future if the computer service providers start putting caps on streaming, a lot of these sites may go belly up. And last but not least - and this is totally off topic but I just have to share - I am a gramma! OK, so my grandbabies are little baby raccoons. One of the little raccoons I have known for two years, since she was just a couple months old, is now a mommy herself. This is her first litter and she brought them into my yard for the first time yesterday. I got video of them, if anyone is interested. Just go to Youtube and do a search for rodentraiser. The video is called "Shy's babies playing in the water". Cuteness overload. Almost as cute as Kostmeyer is sometimes!

Ok then! Should we have an Equalizer movie, I do believe I have found us a Control. I had the misfortune of watching Unthinkable (what McCall would have to say about that movie!) and a young (OK, so not so young, but that's OK) actor by the name of Martin Donovan was playing a director in the FBI. And we're good to go here. If anyone gets a chance, watch the first 15 minutes of the movie (I would not recommend any longer than that) and see if you can pull him out. Either he stands out or I'm just tired cause it's 2 in the am and I need to get some sleep. Just throwin' this out there!

Hey Ro! Thanks for all the logical possible explanations. As much as I like poochies, I am glad the writers didn't use a loner private eye with his dog gimmick in the show. I finally went through all of the pages on this thread and I've been trying to watch as many episodes as possible. Thanks for the help with that! It's amazing how I remember some of the little trivia things in an episode, such as Mickey impersonating a UPS driver, but have forgotten the major plotline. I forgot the season 4 episode, but I got a kick when Control talks about Qadafi being a dictator/tyrant. Here we are, so many years later, and he's still desperately holding on to his power. Regan is long gone and Qadafi is still here outliving The Equalizer and Control's lines are just as relevant today as when the writers wrote it 25 years ago. Hope the job hunting is going well and the baby raccoon are getting bigger. I haven't heard much about a movie version of The Equalizer lately. Usually, these remakes don't seem to work all that well, but if they were going through with it, my vote would be for Kenneth Branagh. He's another actor that is good at the"less is more" understated form of acting. Lt. Valerias's words to Spock applies to Edward Woodward in that no one could replace him - only succeed him. The only advantage I could see with a movie version of The Equalizer in that it could compel the release of the other seasons on DVD. I also love Tim Woodward. If anyone hasn't seen A Piece of Cake, I highly recommend it.

You are very welcome, Souffle! I am still watching an episode a night - some for the third time. I've forgotten a lot too. Little bits and pieces stick out in my mind and I've entirely forgotten why they were there. Raccoons are good - one of the babies was leaning over my trailer roof to look at me last night and fell off - right into my arms. She scratched me a little clinging to my arm, but neither of us are any the worse for wear. And NeoT - it's interesting you bring up Mission McCall. I just rewatched the first part of Part 2 and decided to do a building hunt. And I found it in The Last Campaign. The building used as the hospital in The Last Campaign is the same one McCall is brought to by the Russians in Mission McCall Part 2. If this is already known to you vets of McCall & Co., I apologize. And I still love your pictures! Many, many thanks for posting those! I was struck by Martin Donovan when I saw him ambling down the hall in his long coat in that Control like amble. He is also very understated in how he acts and even his hand gestures are the same. He's even the same age Control was - sorry, Robert Lansing was. I have seen other things that Robert Lansing has done but he always fit the role of Control so well I have a hard time separating the two of them. Anyway, I thought with a little tweaking, Martin Donovan would be perfect for the role. Gee, listen to me - you'd think I was a casting director. And I did find something on another forum about 1957....it's not exactly a conspiracy, but someone was saying how the internet got its start in 1957. I have yet to read through the link, but I have my doubts that's what 1957 a la Splinters is about. It seems to fit today, but in 1987-88 there really was no internet as we know it today, just the news groups. Unless that is what Mr. Luck is referring to and I will peruse them to see if anything fits.
