Is anyone completely through their box set? How many times? I am still trying to get through it the first time.
I have had mine for over a month now and start one that I am not familiar with and end up stopping and going
back to one that I know.

Only until 5 Fingers & Hangover Square.

I've been spending a lot of time on each score one by one, so even though I've had mine about a month I'm only through disc 4 so far!

That is basically what I am doing, but I keep replaying the ones I bought the set for, JTTCOTE and TDTESS.

How hard is it to listen to 14 CDs? I would have had it done the day after I got it in the mail.

Let's see, full time job (50+ hours)(check), doing my entire families taxes (4 people worth)(check), and I have another stack of score CDs that are still sealed (working on these as I can)! :0
I have been listening to them as best as I can sitting at the computer.

I'm with you. I suppose some people have fourteen hours in a day that they can devote to listening to CDs, but on most days, I get maybe an hour. One job, three kids, one wife, many bills, additional work at home every night, fixing up the house, and on and on. I'm not complaining (well, I don't love the bills), wouldn't trade that for anything. But that's how hard it is to listen to 14 CDs.

But to answer your original question, yes, I've listened to all the CDs, and a few of them twice. Took me a while. There's really great stuff here. I'm not wild about all of it equally, and some that seem to be favorites here ("Journey to the Center of the Earth," for one) are among my least favorites. The revelation for me was "Snows of Kilimanjaro," which had a breadth not even evident in the terrific Morgan/Stromberg recording.

I haven't had the time to get through all of it yet, but I've listened to all the unreleased material.

Wrapped up with The Egyptian last evening. I try to do about 30 minutes after supper every night. I started with Jane Eyre and Tender in the Night. I was maintaining notes as I went along, but deleted them by mistake after a VM reboot one night. Jane Eyre is my favorite in the box-set. Journey to the Center of the Earth is very amazing as well. Khyber Rifles is excellent, as is Blue Denim and Prince of Players. Garden of Evil was a score I had forgotten ... so good.

They're all excellent.

Can I just ask which scores in this box set are actually complete?

Complete scores include: Jane Eyre, Anna & The King of Siam, The GHost and Mrs. Muir, The Day The Earth Stood Still, Five Fingers, The Snows of Kilimanjaro, Beneath the 12 Mile Reef and Blue Denim.

Garden of Evil and Journey to the Center of the Earth are mising 1 cue each. Not entirely sure about the rest as I don't have the official cue sheets at my disposal. Hope this helps somewhat.

I believe that PRINCE OF PLAYERS is missing at least one major cue, entitled "Elegy."

I am loving this set. I'm only familiar with one score out of all of them, so it's quite an ear-opening experience for me. Love the book, too. Beautifully designed and classy.

Well, my life long next Herrmann Box set would be a definitive Herrmann Hitchcock set! And I wouldnt even mind if the complete Vertigo by James Conlon and the Psycho remake film be added as a bonus in there.
