Makes me wonder if they DONT release a digital or CD release of this score that maybe I should get the PS3 and PC versions of the game...as with previous Trek PC games you can search on the files that are on the disc and pull the music off of it. LOL
I've had the great good fortune to hear a couple of Chad's cues, and they are wonderful! He has every reason to be proud of them -- just as I am proud of HIM (Disclosure: I taught Chad in high school. We used to have lively discussions about Goldsmith after class!) Giaccchino's faith in his former assistant is proving well-founded! Keep up the great work, Chad!
I wish this board had Like buttons, because I want to Like this post! Very cool!
I wonder if the game itself credits Giacchino rather than Seiter, so that's why this article used Giacchino's name?
If I remember correctly, doesn't every episode of Fringe still credit "Music by Michael Giacchino" even though Chris Tilton scored everything himself from season 2 onward?

Maybe it's a contractual thing.
Doesn't it seem unlikely that if X is contractually credited for creating something, that Y could publicly take credit for it? Probably just lack of fact checking by the star trek fan site.
I haven't heard anything suggesting either way, but going by the number of releases we have had of other tie-in game scores (zero), I would think not..?

I dont see why they wouldnt. I mean afterall this is a Michael Giacchino score. And going by the past...alot of his video game scores have gotten releases. Medal of Honor...Jurassic Park...so Im sure this would get a release.

We've gotten at least online releases for many of the Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings game scores, and finally the recent Star Wars game at least had a CD available with the game itself. . . And of course Star Trek: Borg computer game got a release, or was that just promotional?
On the subject of a film composer doing a game score, Steve Jablonsky did the Transforms video game score for us when the first reboot Transformers movie came out. He was a pleasure to work with and actually I think wrote as much music for the game as the film. Not sure if this was the first US example of that or not.
On David Arnold for GoldenEye Wii, that is correct - just themes. And ironically of course, David did not have the scoring duties on GoldenEye the movie (although he did come in and redo a few cues I think - like the Tank Chase).
Back to the subject of this post, Michael was amazing to work with on the early Call of Duty titles. He had worked on Medal of Honor with the teams that became Infinity Ward and Spark, so they requested (practically demanded) we contract him for their games for us (Activision). It wasn't much of a demand as I already loved the MOH scores and had heard the Jurassic Park score too.
In any case, looking forward to hearing Chad's score for Star Trek which I am sure will be great too.

Here's hoping for a release of this score as I really liked what I heard in the trailers posted above. Nice variations on the Giacchino's themes but with a distinct style. Definitely captures that epic Star Trek sound.
Yes, I hope Varese puts this out. I'm sure LLL would but Varese having the rights to the film score probably prevents them from getting this which is so connected to it.
