I actually missed the music from Vampires, otherwise he played from all of his major movies (not Darkstar, Village of the damned, Vampires or Ghosts of Mars thou)

Thor, you could Always go to Malmoe in south of Sweden August 30th . it will be my second Carpenter show after seeing him in Copenhagen May 30th and he was awesome and well worth it Hope he will have M&G in Sweden (didn´t have that option in Denmark thou) Seriously? I went to Copenhagen, too, and am going to the one in Malmoe as well. If you saw a guy with the coolest damn Snake Plissken t-shirt ever, that was me. https://www.rottencotton.com/snake-p-699.html and if you saw an idiot wearing a Michael Myers mask during Halloween and two idiots wearing shades during They live it was me (and my brother) All his Concerts seems to be exactly the same with exactly the same speech between the various themes. About the merch, I know they sold a tour tshirt, They Live sunglasses, Lost Themes Vol 1 & 2 CDs and vinyls, Halloween tshirts, and I Think a poster but I did not see a tour program, but I saw his second show so it might have changed since then. Well Worth seeing him and I will se him a second time in Malmoe Sweden Aug 31st again

A short Review of the themes he is playing on tour The band with members from Tenacious D and his son Cody and friend Daniel Davies enter and the beat to the first theme starts which is *Escape from New York "Main Theme" this is one of his best themes and the crowd goes wild. 5/5 *Assault on Precinct 13 "Main theme" the oldest of his Music played tonight but fits nice as the follow up to the Escape theme 4/5 Carpenter presents himself and goes to present his next two songs from the Lost themes albums *Vortex this is my absolute fave of his new tracks and sounds alot in the veins coming of Christine/Halloween3/Big Trouble in Little China and is a true Winner 5/5 *Mystery is his second theme played from Lost Themes Vol.1 and sounds like the era from Village of the Damned. Not my fave of his themes played but still an OK track 3/5 Carpenter presents his next theme as "that he has mostly composed to scary movies, thrillers, science fiction, slashertales ...and ghost stories..." *The Fog "main theme/End theme Medley" Here we have a true Classic for me, and the Movie I grew up too when others hailed Halloween, this was my JC fave horror. A great medley from JC and the band.4/5 During his Movie themes, they show clips from the Movie they are playing the theme for and with different lights for each Movie *They Live "Main Theme" JC puts on his dark shades and we that bought these at the merchboot do the same A blues Heavy sounding tune that the audience eats up .4/5 I have to say that in Copenhagen, the audience was sitting down , but was applauding but Carpenter responded to this by saying this was the most polite audience he had played for *LOL* He then presents the Thing and gives a shout out to Ennio Morricone, one of the great Composers of Cinema history and says the band will play the Music to his honour *The Thing "Desolation theme" This is JCs best Movie in my opinion and I was thrilled they play a track from this too 5/5 Carpenter presents his band and then goes directly into *Distant Dreams a track from Lost Themes Vol.2 and this sounds directly like something out of Big Trouble in Little China and the audience claps along to Another really great new tune 5/5 Now its time for Rock n Roll and Carpenter introduces the next theme as a track where he and Kurt Russel were looking for a girl with green Eyes and got *Big Trouble In Little China "Main Theme" Here we couldn´t be so polite to sit anymore and was standing up putting our fist in the air like a true rock Concert, and this got the loudest applauds from the audience. *Wraith Another track from Lost themes Vol.1 and this track they could have skipped and play something from Vampires instead. Not a bad track, but after Big Trouble, it can only go down 2/5 *Night JC lets Daniel Davies shines on the guitarr to this Heavy track that is "darker" in tone. Another track from Lost Themes Vol.1 and a great track 4/5 I LOVE HORROR MOVIES, AND HORROR MOVIES WILL LIVE FOREVER... with this Words they plunge themselves into... *Halloween "Main Theme" Actually I´m going out on a limb here , but this theme is played to death for me , but to see the Master play it live infront of a screen where we sw the Shape stalks Laurie Strode is massive 4/5 *In the Mouth of Madness "Main Theme" A great theme with Heavy riffs, and sounded great from the band , and here they really showed of Davies guitarr should have been more agressive thou 4/5 encore: *Prince of Darkness "The Darkness Begins" This is the most moody score JC has ever done and performed live with red lights flowing the stage as clips is shown from the Movie. This is the BIG surprise for me as I really love it 5/5 what follows are two rather forgetable tracks from his Lost Themes albums *Virtual Survivor from Lost Themes 2 , a rather boring track i.m.o that could have been skipped for something else (Vampires, Ghosts of Mars, Village of the Damned, Halloween 3??) 2/5 *Purgatory a slow start and a soft theme from Lost Themes Vol.1 that sounds like it could have belonged from Vampires but was rejected 2/5 *Christine "Christine Attacks" A great ending for the show where JC tells us to be careful going home tonight because Christine is out there. A great track from one of his i.m.o most underrated Movies 4/5 A great show where Carpenter played something from almost all of his Movies , and if you haven´t seen him live yet, for F sake go fetch a ticket...

I see. So I guess the setlist was the same as for the rest of tour, like this? http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/john-carpenter/2016/pabst-theater-milwaukee-wi-7bff0a88.html Any nice stuff on the merchandise stand? How much is the programme book, if there is one? Looking forward to your review; as you know, I'll see him in Vienna in november, can't wait. Yeah, the set list is pretty much the same. I don't think he ventures too far from his set list in any of his shows. I couldn't see any concert programme, but lots of T-shirts (expensive!) sold at the venue. Loved the crowd -- all young metalheads and horror geeks, everyone wearing some shade of black. The rear projection was a bit weird, a "fake" 3D kind of thing, and most of the clips were the effects shots from the respective movies. Also, it pretty much showed the ending for most of them, so if there are any Carpenter film on his set list that you haven't seen yet, I urge you to do so before you go to the show. John didn't do much on keyboards, the more advanced stuff was done by his son Cody. But the addition of a band makes it more vibrant than the Moroder show last year (with which it is relevant to compare), although that show had other qualities.

[ But the addition of a band makes it more vibrant than the Moroder show last year (with which it is relevant to compare), although that show had other qualities. Yes, the more I think of it, the more I feel that the Moroder show was a bit of a missed opportunity. But oh well...

Coming to Dublin on Oct. 25, 2016 to Vicar Street! I just might go to this concert! I have enjoyed a lot of John's films over the years.
