And then:

JUDICIAL CONSENT - music by Christopher YOUNG

Absolutely love these Jennifer... 9, 10, 11... type scores. Beautiful, familiar and yet all different and quite distinct. A lesser composer would have copy pasted his way through, but never a truly talented gentleman like Mr. Young.

Disc # 2 (alternates and album assemblies):

Doubt I'll be spinning this one as much as disc #1...hearing three barely-different takes on a particular cue all in a row is pretty numbing. Still, nice to have those original 1995 album versions, and sounding far better without all of the wet, heavy reverb (you can actually hear the harp glisses in "Judgement Day" now).

LOFT - music by Wolfram de MARCO

From MovieScore Media: "Performed by the London Metropolitan Orchestra, the music evokes the darkness and sensual mystery of Loft"

LET THE RIGHT ONE IN - music by Johan Söderqvist

From MovieScore Media: ""The music effectively juxtaposes elements of melodic beauty with dark and ominous textures (including the use of the unusual instrument, the bass waterphone)."

Disc #2 (Maurice Jarre score)

Interesting...I watched a "Score Restore" video on YouTube a few years back with Jarre's main title accompanying the film's opening credits, but hearing the entire thing, and it's a shame it was junked. It lacks a central melody as strong as "The Water Is Wide", but the action and suspense music is very well-done. Nice to have this paired with the Goldsmith score. smile

Disc #2 (scores by Gail Kubik, Leith Stevens, Heinz Roemheld, Victor Young)

The Victor Young score is the definite highlight of disc #2...in fact, this is the only Young score I own on CD. embarrassment That will have to be rectified. More of that tempestuous, churning Golden Age dramatic scoring I love, and good sound.

THE HOME OF DARK BUTTERFLIES - music by Panu AALTIO

Yet more excellence from MovieScore Media in this very restrained and elegant score.

From their website: "His score for The Home of Dark Butterflies is a deeply emotional work, recorded with a string orchestra in London, conducted by Matt Dunkley. 26-year old Aaltio makes prominent use of solo piano in his score, while his string writing has a stroke of minimalism that perhaps will remind some listeners of the work of Michael Nyman."

LIKE MINDS - music by Carlo GIACCO

From MovieScore Media: "Clearly evident in Giacco’s dark and foreboding music, which makes prominent use of murky string writing and slowly swelling low brass clusters, the story soon develops into a psychological drama with thriller elements."
