You have a great attitude Sean!

Yeah, it seems like Bruce is giving backers a similar deal with this set counting as 1 disc as Lukas used to do for FSM CD subscribers many years ago (they would get 2-disc sets at the price of one, and once even got a complete free CD: The Appointment!)

I'm opting in for this release too. It's a bonus to get two for one.
I also didn't know about subscribing to FSM. Too late now!

And just in case it isn't clear - this is a terrific extra deal for Indiegogo supporters, since we're essentially getting two for the price of one here. I was expecting and wouldn't have been at all disappointed if this had counted as two. Well done, Bruce.

Bruce releases alot of 2-fers, so it's always a bargain. And if that wasnt enough, he has a sale on two 2-fers when ordered together (two Paul Glass releases). Highly recommended:

Yeah, but those are two-fers where Bruce only charges $19.99 so they're a great deal on their own. Costs on this two-fer were high enough to necessitate a normal $29.99 price tag but Indiegogo supporters get it as a normal CD.

oh, right. I was thinking it was $19.98 when nilnav45 wrote it was 2-for-1.

A couple of the unused songs were recorded and we have the elements on them, but they obviously could not be included on these two CDs and we weren't about to go to a third CD for six minutes of material. Since they were not used at all, even in the underscoring, it made sense that those would not be included, given the very long run times of both CDs.

We may try to do them as bonus tracks on another Fox release down the line.

You Say the Nicest Things Baby - is this the same song used in Fox's earlier musical Tin Pan Alley?

No, it was "You Say the Sweetest Things, Baby" that was in 1940's TIN PAN ALLEY. Apparently, the song was written by Mack Gordon & Harry Warren specifically for that film.

"You Say the Nicest Things, Baby" did not appear until 1948, when Jimmy McHugh & Harold Adamson wrote it for their 1948 stage show As the Girls Go. The song was copyrighted on 13 October 1948.

Thankfully, the Glenn Miller fans have embraced it.

That's good news! I'm not opting out ... been waiting for the complete scores on these two films for a long time!

Bruce, the outtake song, The World is Waiting to Waltz - who sings it?

I heard the song just once, and for the life of me I cant remember.

I'd have to ask Mike.

I have to join with the others who just can't stand big band music. I couldn't even listen to the stuff on 1941 at first when I got that score until I saw the movie and it slightly grew on me.

only Kev posted that he didnt like Big Band music and was opting out.
Bruce mentioned there were alot of indiegogo opt-outs, but that doesnt necessarily mean they cant stand the genre.

In normal situation, I would opt-out this title. And in seconds after that would order it, to show my support for Kritzerland. But as I have some finance problems, this will be double win for me. Thanks Bruce!

And now one question - I really have no information about this, so... What Alfred & Emil Newman did as "music directors"? Is it old term for "music conducted by"?

Yes the conducted anything that wasn't the Glenn Miller Orchestra - and that's a ton of stuff. But Alfred also orchestrated some of the cues, as did David Raksin and the amazing Conrad Salinger.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I have the two Miller laser discs and a cd on a label called Viper, purchased at the old Tower Records in Hollywood. I am familiar with the great job Chase does in providing a stereo effect from mono sources, but the Sun Valley laser and cd are definitely true stereo in some, not all, of the Miller performances as well as the ice ballet that concludes the movie.

If no dual track recordings remain at Fox, then someone at the old laser disc video company must have a rare treasure at home. Some collectors have no principles or shame. Tsk! Tsk!

Mike has already explained this in detail in this thread. I don't think we have to beat the dead horse anymore - it's all here and whether one chooses to either understand or believe what he's saying is up to the person reading.

Shipping on Friday.

I am usually not into this kind of music, but these two scores are an exception, and when they're as meticulously presented as here, it's time to take the plunge.

Wallet, shut up! wink
