Say what you will about these new films, this new franchise... this is by a country mile the best movie trailer I've seen since Cliffhanger.

Hopefully will be the blockbuster Fox needs after the ALIEN COVENANT debacle.

I really enjoyed the first one - RISE - but found DAWN to be a bit of a let-down after the first film build-up, but it was by no means bad and I hope this new one (which is looking cool from the trailers) amps things up big style.
I wished Patrick Doyle could have continued on with the series too.
I love his score to RISE, but found the MG sequel score to be okay, if a tad dull and uninspired in places.

Yes, I saw this before Wonder Woman and was thoroughly impressed. I wonder why Giacchino hasn't utilized the terrific textural effects that he exploited for LOST as much for the POTA series. At the time of Lost, it was clear he was a fan of Goldsmith.

From THR: "Shot on spectacular locations, mostly in Alberta and British Columbia, despite the California settings, the film is further enhanced by a notably imaginative, out-of-the-ordinary score by Michael Giacchino."

Just out from the press screening. The score is almost wall-to-wall and sounds A LOT like John Barry. It doesn't always fit the picture (especially when it's in 007 mode), but it should make a great album and it's definitely Giacchino's best work since John Carter.

So, how was the movie?

Michael Giacchino writing a John Barryesque James Bond score for a Planet of the Apes prequel? Well that's unexpected.

I will be VERY surprised if it tops Tomorrowland, Into Darkness, Rogue One, Jurassic World, and Inside Out for me, but right on.

This track is great! Hopefully the whole score is as good. This is the most refreshing and inventive work I've heard from Giacchino in a long, long time!

I can sorta see the Barry comparisons (Thunderball maybe?), but the militaristic section sounds so thin, like the score to an animated religious telenovela. It also doesn't sound very inventive or like an instant classic. Sounds pretty much how I expected it to sound.

I saw a screening last night and thoroughly enjoyed both the movie and MG's score. There are numerous sequences where his music takes center stage and his thematic material all really works like gangbusters.

I'm interested in the film and maybe the music will resonate better in context. The End Titles has some nice attributes but the sparse piano stuff is on way too much of his work ever since Lost and has lost its impact on me as far as providing a poignancy.

I'm sure it plays well against picture however, but can someone tell me why his recordings sound so small??? Everything is really close mic'd and there's no room or space to his stuff. Pity.
