Great initiative! I currently don't own any albums by Georges Delerue, so possibly starting off with one of the better works of his (at least I think so, it keeps popping up quite a lot on the board) would be very nice.
Haven't yet heard or listened to Delerue's Something Wicked...
But it was his work for Joe Versus the Volcano that hooked me (thanks Varèse Club!)...
And among others of his that I own- True Confessions, Agnes of God, Black Robe, they possess at times some of the most sublime and hauntingly beautiful melodies and string writing I've ever heard.
Quite the distinctive musical voice- one of my very faves (and of course if I had the means, would go all completist mode in collecting his oeuvre; as such, am lucky to have the few that I have). His is deeply evocative stirringly soulful work.
To the OP- your generosity is noted, welcomed and most appreciated!
To the eventual winner- hoping you enjoy it very much!
The odds are certainly against my winning this, but I'm crossing my fingers as it's the only way I'm likely to get this release (I'm flat broke until at least mid-december if not beyond). I'm dying to hear what lerouge has cobbled together for Something Wicked-- it's one of the all time great supernatural scores.
