A new giveaway is afoot. The prize is a brand new copy of the Georges Delerue score to Something Wicked this Way Comes. Universal France has pulled quite a coup in making this available to fans of fine film music.
To participate:
1) Write a short message in this post;
2) Send me an e-mail with your board pseudonym. No need to include your personal address for now. I will contact the winner at the end of the contest.
I will accept entries until Sunday November 20th at 6 PM EST. The results will be announced approximately an hour later.
"Something Wicked" was supposed to be a movie even before it became a book. Ray Bradbury's novel had its origins in a story idea for a proposed movie that Gene Kelly had intended to direct. When the film project fell through Bradbury turned the idea into a novel (which he dedicated to Kelly).
Bradbury and Delerue DID work together on a movie once, as it happens: George Cukor's final film "Rich and Famous" (1981). Delerue composed the score and Bradbury played a cameo as a party guest.
I'd sure love to hear those original "Something Wicked" tracks. Thanks for offering this contest.

Well the "original" tracks, complete and chronological, are in the Disney vaults. But this release, taken from the Delerue's personal archives and configured into album concept form, will certainly do for now.
