I wish Howard Blake's score to S.O.S. Titanic would get a release. I have the main title recorded off of one of the endless showings TBS used to play back in the late 80's, but the entire thing would be great!

I find myself listening to the Back To Titanic CD more than the original album. I prefer the suites by the LSO over the actual soundtrack.

NEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRD!!!!!!!!!

It's OK, as I've wanted to do something like that with another surround mix (Chicago II), but just don't have the capability.

The enhancements were done because as is, the DTS or SACD versions might as well be 3.0 - Left, Center, Right. To hear the LFE and rears you would have to turn them up on your receiver pretty high, then turn them back down when listening to something else or your setup would be all out of whack.

The others are just plain interesting listens, and as for the DVD, I just wanted to see if I could do it. The scenes were there, quality as good as the film itself, properly mixed audio, finished visual effects, etc on that "Collector's Edition" DVD so I couldn't pass up the chance to make something out of it.

Just uploaded this to imeem. It's Southampton, without the synths. This is what the orchestra actually performed before Horner performed the chorus over this.

Take Her To Sea, Mr. Murdoch:

These cues which are dominated by the synthesized choir have the most minimal sound, but the remaining fully orchestral cues are still different enough compared to the overall package.

I added a slight reverb effect to them to give them a slightly fuller sound, given they are in mono.

Fortunately we have the more listenable vision with the choir.

The first time was bad enough. Please don't send us back.

You won't watch Titanic 2?

I'm really looking forward to the new La-La Land 'Titanic' release which should hopefully arrive with me this week. In anticipation I've been listening to the suite recorded with the LSO from the 'Back to Titanic' album rather than listen to the film recording itself. I have no problem with this not being included on the new release as it is very much it's own entity and is readily available cheaply for those who want it. I've made a playlist of the three tracks credited to the LSO on the back cover:

-Titanic Suite
-A Shore Never Reached
-Epilogue - The Deep and Timeless Sea

From all of the promotion I know that the 'Titanic Suite' and 'Epilogue' tracks are newly arranged and recorded pieces for this album but I can't find any specific information on 'A shore Never Reached'. Is it also a new arrangement? Is it a re-recording of a film track by the LSO? Or is it simply mistakenly labeled as being newly recorded by the LSO? Any additional information on it is most appreciated.

I also found two interesting videos of recording session footage / interviews from the recording session at Air Studios back in 1998:

So outside of the dialogue stuff and the LSO stuff, I assume everything else from the CD is on the new set?

I was wondering about this the other day. I own both CDs but am not really familiar enough with them to know.

Which cues comprise the Titanic suite, and is there any re-recorded score on Back To Titanic that is not on the OST (if my question makes sense)?

A Shore Never Reached is still a London Symphony recording.

The "Titanic Suite" isn't an arrangement of specific cues. It's just an assembly of the different themes.

I suppose one could loosely create a version of it using the score.

-A slower "Never an Absolution"
-A restructured "Southampton" and "Leaving Port"
-A slower "Rose"

But some of it is not really from any cue in the score.

Thanks for this but what exactly is the cue? Is it a new piece or arrangement? Or is it a re-recording with the LSO of a track from the film recordings?

It's a totally new piece for orchestra but the second half of it on pipes is just the slower 'Logo' / 'Never an Absolution' that also opened up the "Titanic Suite".

I really this album, the music sounds far more organic than what was heard in the film. Great to hear world class musicians perform this score.

The LSO is indeed a world class orchestra and one of the very finest in the world but are you saying the musicians of the Hollywood Studio Symphony are not world class? I beg to differ.

Love both Titanic albums and very excited about the new release!
